I've called 3/4 of the last 10,000 pax to let them know I'll be there in 2 minutes. I do it as a courtesy to both them and to myself. People want to get where they're going and often they don't get the text. Often I'm driving down the road w/ passengers in my car and they get the text right next to me that I just arrived. So when I call them I say it a nice voice that'll be there in 2min or 45 sec or w/e. I don't want them to think I am rushing them when I'm not. I think just better communication helps everyone out. Here in San Francisco when I'm double parked waiting for passengers I've been getting tickets in the mail by the sfmta. They don't even tell us they're giving us tickets and they just show up in our mailbox. So I cannot afford to be waiting in a busy Street. About 90% of the time the passengers thank me for the heads up. If you're going to do this though I highly advise that your tone of voice is sincerely kind.
Another issue with lyft line :( you can't cancel .calling them is just too draining , I arrive and if they are not curbside I cancel especially during evening rush hour .
