It doesn't make Uber any money - they don't care.

When I found something in my car that didn't belong to me, I dropped it in a mailbox. The nearest one. RFN.
If asked I don't have it, never saw it ... what is it?

Call support. If the return item feature is in the app, you should be able to access it whether you're online or not. Did you bring up the actual trip and hit the question mark in the top right corner of the screen? Or go down to the help section in the menu and select the trip?
