Whether you heard or not, last night a Lyft driver was killed in Hawthorne, LA. This is incredibly tragic, since he was only 21 and was working to help his family. No more of this, this is so sad and really needs to be recognized as a drawing line. You're taking a risk as a driver working the Early AM hours; Drunk drivers, Drunk pax, drugged drivers, drugged pax, More criminals as a %, Unsafe drivers on suspended licenses, the list goes on. We get millions of people home safely every month, but we don't see the appreciation of our risks. As drivers, you all deserve a 20% tip for the risky drives, You deserve to feel secure about not having a crap rating from a drunktard, You deserve to have more time to review requests and not rush to your phone while driving; losing focus on the road, what's important! You deserve to go home after a hard mornings work, dealing with these issues, knowing it was worth it, knowing you're being appreciated, and not told by emails we appreciate you. They don't appreciate you, these companies just don't, otherwise they wouldn't raise SRF fees and you get nothing. The gofundme page link is below, along with this story link. RIP Thor, too young, too kind.

This is so, so sad. I have driven across 120th and Doty (where Thor was killed) a thousand times, so I can visualize what the accident was like. Thor was only 21 and his family needed him for support. He was on the news being interviewed about the new ruling allowing Lyft drivers to pickup at LAX and a week later he is gone, killed in the line of duty. I have officially hung up my pink moustache. I really did enjoy the three months I drove for Lyft in beautiful Los Angeles and I'll never forget all the interesting people I got to meet and talk with. It was great! I'm going to be working with H&R Block for the next three months. It pays about as much as driving but it's so much safer.

I don't think this is over yet, the rideshare may have some liability here, the insurance also. Let's see what happens.
