I am located in Boca Raton and would need a regular driver to pick up clients/candidates from the airport and bring to my office and back. I am unable to schedule an Uber ahead of time for them and hoping one of you could assist. I need someone today at 230pm pickup in Miami drive to Boca Raton.
Thank you in advance.
If I may offer a straightforward, respectful answer to your inquiry...
First of all, although you
can "schedule" ahead of time with Uber, it means nothing. All that happens is that 5 minutes or so prior to your "scheduled" pickup, Uber matches you with the closest driver to your pickup location. I doubt if Uber will schedule airport pickups because a) the airports work on an electronic queue and b) you have to factor in flight delays, etc, and c) they would have no way of knowing
exactly where the pickup was until the rider is at the curb.
Your clients will have no problem getting rides from any South Florida airports, but it's a crapshoot. You may get a Prius, you may get an Escalade; you may get a driver who knows what they are doing, or not.
If you want some comfort with who will be driving your clients, and what they will be riding in, you need to make
direct arrangements with a
specific driver. There is a way to set that up and some of the better drivers do it, but you have to find them.
I would suggest that the ride be "on the app," rather than paying the driver independently. That way, you can pay normally, take advantage of discounts/promotions, and your rider is covered by Uber/Lyft insurance.
From a driver's perspective, an MIA-Boca ride is a mixed blessing. Yes, it's a long ride (about $55 - $120, depending on whether you use X or XL) -- but it could also be a long drive empty TO the pickup, or a long drive empty RETURNING from Boca. So the driver would probably want compensation for all those empty miles.
If this is going to be a recurring thing, it might be worth setting up an arrangement with a good driver. That, of course, will require much more than one hour notice.
Good luck, and thanks for trying to steer some business our way!
