So I've been looking into this feature a lot recently and I've noticed a few things..

The furthest west that you can set a destination too is.....

Mount Victoria 137km, 1 hour 59 mins

The furthest south that you can set a destination too is.....

shell cove 129km, 1 hour 56 mins

The furthest north that you can set a destination too is.....

Warners Bay 146km, 1 hour 52 mins

There seems to be a pattern. It would appear that you can't set a destination further then 150km or more than 2 hours away. Though I'm not sure if the 150km radius is set from a point in Sydney of if it's set from a point from where an Uber driver lives. For instance, if you live in Gosford, can you then set the destination 150 km north of Gosford? I suspect the starting point is somewhere on the Sydney coast though..

2 weeks a go I remember a thread where someone pointed out that Uber changed the set destinations to "time out" after been active for 2.5 times the destinations time limit.

Given this information, it looks as though the maximum amount of time you can be on a set destination is roughly 5 hours for 1, or 10 hours for 2 if you set your destinations to these addresses. That's a considerable amount of time.

I would say it's very possible to use this to ones advantage. I already use the set destination in a way that's very beneficial to my strategy. However given this new information, I would say there are ways to game the system, especially on a Saturday night after 10pm when it surges. Set destination gets priority over any other trips. If you wanted to specifically chase surge from the city, this would be one way to do it for an extended period of time...

I'm still yet to test the furthest distance south west and north west, but maybe some other drivers can help..

There is more too, but will post more tomorrow..

I have another theory. The further away your destination, the lower your priority.

I was in Hurstville last week and tried to set as far north as possible. The furthest I could set was Morisset. I thought sweet, should be able to get a few trips on the way up the north shore.

End result, drove all the way home without a single ping! :(

Granted, it was the middle of the day, but even so I would've expected at least 1 or 2 trips!

Other times when I've set closer destinations, I always got a ping fairly quickly.

I think the time and distance limit applies from where you are when you set it. Not based on your actual home.

Just been playing around with the limits.

I can get to Bowenfels going West (just past Lithgow), it's 100Km as the crow flies from current location, 1:59, 134Km.
I can't set that limit, it's to far away. That must mean the radius is roughly 150 km from your starting point!

Can anyone who lives in Gosford or Woollongong confirm what is the furthest they can set their destination too?

Main theory i have found is Uber distributes the jobs to everyone. If you make more in certain period, you would make less in other times.

I am wondering if Tony can work 90 hours a week, would he be still able to maintain his hourly rate?

Yes, this is something I believe in too. Wealth and job distribution seem to be a big part of things. I'd be curious to see if a Set destination would take preference over job and wealth distribution, but I don't think it's the case since we all end up with different hourly averages.

As for working 90 hours a week. I'm not willing to try lol :p

Just moved south and can't set Bowenfels anymore. Tried McDonald's Lithgow, it's just over 100Km, also can't. Lithgow is 99Km and it accepts.

I think we can conclude it's a 100Km radius from your current location.

I wonder if 2 hours takes preference over distance. I'll do some tests during peak hour if possible.

I tend to agree with you here...the algorithm will distribute jobs around to even out for the drivers...

Very rarely will you be able to string out 3 consecutive good days...of $50 per hour for example..

When you look at the weekly average for most drivers, it will be around the $30-35 hourly average...

I use set destination at end of shift, but it's set about 5 suburbs past my home, 95% of the time I will get a ping, but not necessarily near my home...could be out of the way by 15 mins...

Which option do you normally use? "in a hurry", "moderate", or "flexible"? (can't remember exact words)

I have never been pulled very far even if I use "flexible".

I dont get either of these . I get the option to select a previous address or search for a new one an thats it. No drop down menu at all :(

I have never seen the second time format. Must be new????
Although I still don't have the ability to check my uber rating breakdown either :(
Maybe you get one or the other. An ability to check your rating breakdown or an ability to tell them how fast you want to get to your destination

I use Standard or moderate....always get pings towards home...

Don't like flexible as it gives me crappy short trips out of the way most times...

In a Rush , never had a ping towards home for over 5 months now...
