So I've been looking into this feature a lot recently and I've noticed a few things..
The furthest west that you can set a destination too is.....
Mount Victoria 137km, 1 hour 59 mins
The furthest south that you can set a destination too is.....
shell cove 129km, 1 hour 56 mins
The furthest north that you can set a destination too is.....
Warners Bay 146km, 1 hour 52 mins
There seems to be a pattern. It would appear that you can't set a destination further then 150km or more than 2 hours away. Though I'm not sure if the 150km radius is set from a point in Sydney of if it's set from a point from where an Uber driver lives. For instance, if you live in Gosford, can you then set the destination 150 km north of Gosford? I suspect the starting point is somewhere on the Sydney coast though..
2 weeks a go I remember a thread where someone pointed out that Uber changed the set destinations to "time out" after been active for 2.5 times the destinations time limit.
Given this information, it looks as though the maximum amount of time you can be on a set destination is roughly 5 hours for 1, or 10 hours for 2 if you set your destinations to these addresses. That's a considerable amount of time.
I would say it's very possible to use this to ones advantage. I already use the set destination in a way that's very beneficial to my strategy. However given this new information, I would say there are ways to game the system, especially on a Saturday night after 10pm when it surges. Set destination gets priority over any other trips. If you wanted to specifically chase surge from the city, this would be one way to do it for an extended period of time...
I'm still yet to test the furthest distance south west and north west, but maybe some other drivers can help..
There is more too, but will post more tomorrow..
