Here's my update. I like the sign, it's not huge and obnoxious, sits right at eye level, and has definitely been read by the pax. Its not that easy to give good/accurate feedback on it right now, would have to give it more time, because I was in and out of the driving mode this weekend. But so far, i notice that the usual culprits that we, as drivers, can guess will not to tip, have been reaching in their pockets. There have been good conversations over the sign, and several have said they didn't realize about tipping (blah blah blah, weI have heard it all before), and they did tip a little something.
I would say I was $25ish above average, but again, didn't drive all that much, so it could have probably been much more. So i'm thinking that if I drove the late hours, where most of my tips came from the sign would be worth a lot more. You will always find the ones that will avoid eye contact after reading it, because their intention is to get a ride for as cheap as possible. - I think that will never change, but i do see positive coming out of that sign. I did my own testing in another area though. I took 3 pool pings where I normally let those go. I really just needed to see if they'd tip with the new sign. Not a penny, but my expectation were not high. So the rule stands "no more pools". So my summary about the sign, so far positive, has potential to do much better. I think I will post that sign in another forum for others that may be interested in putting it up. Maybe if it circulates, drivers will understand we are not their slaves, and are providing a service that gets them to their destination safely each and every time.
