Ok...so I've had the worst Uber rider experience last night at Sydney Olympic park. Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to vent it out!!
(I call the driver)
Me: Hey mate I am standing outside of the tennis stadium
Uber Driver (UD): Which direction are you heading?
Me: Why does that matter? Please pick me up from my location.
UD: OK I am coming but which direction are you going?
Me: Am going west
UD: OK
He arrives in a few minutes. While on trip
Me: So why did you ask which direction I was going?
UD: I wanted to know if you were going south or west.
Me: What would you have done if I was not going west.
UD: Cancelled the booking
Me: But isn't that against Uber code of conduct?
UD: Who cares I am going home to Penrith and I don't want to pick up rides going any other direction. (And he goes on and on....stating he's finishing a 12 hours shift etc etc)
Me: How different are you from a cabbie? Isn't this one of the differentiators for Uber not to cancel jobs based on driver preference?
UD starts deviating from the route, gets into a parking lot and says - "I don't want to take you. I don't want to hear such BS all the way". He completes the trip and states he will tell Uber not to charge me. So am stranded somewhere in the middle of Olympic Park at 12.30 AM. What an experience!!
So I book another Uber - must have been a noobie with a 4.8 rating in an Audi. I tell him the location - street intersection of where I am. Oh no...I don't know where that is. I just know where your pickup location what Uber says and I will come there. Thanks to the new app the location was middle of nowhere - where I was dropped. Tried calling him up again to guide him. He disconnects my call and then starts the trip without me.
Now comes the best part. I somehow catch another Uber with a 4.4 rating but absolutely cool driver. I reach home and I see a message that my rider app has been temporarily restricted due to a complaint lodged against me.
On one side am happy that Uber considers rider complaints - but hey horrible Uber experience unfortunately.
