Kia ora Kiwis (and others). Since the lockdown, I have picked up a number of riders at one private address and dropped off at another. It seems very likely that they are contravening the lockdown by breaking out of their bubbles. Have others in New Zealand or elsewhere where there are similar "stay at home" rules found people behaving like this?

I stopped driving uber two weeks ago, but I drive out to our family farm about every day and people out in the country here (Virginia) are definitely congregating. I saw a couple decent sized yard parties going on yesterday.
Good to hear that people out in Virginia are not living in fear.

I heard that you blokes across the ditch had all turned into a mob of dibber dobber dinkys after Jacinda put you all in the naughty corner.

It must be tough there when the natural urge of the Kiwi male is to 'look after his flock'; particularly if he hears all those sheep bleating just down in the next paddock, so I expect he orders an Uber to get him there under the cover of darkness.

Sure, there are numerous people contravening lockdown rules, but the majority seem to be complying here in Pennsylvania. Right now, people are ok with these rules, but as Americans, I expect more people to start rebelling against it in about a month. They seem to keep moving the date, and trying to make the lockdown a permanent fixture and I don't think Americans will stand for that..

Do you really think the virus will be over within a month or two or three or four? Unless some miracle happens, unrealistic to think this is over with anytime soon.

People really do think all this is going to STOP the virus. Couldn't be further from the truth.

Still, the responsibility depends on the individual.
Doesn't matter how much or how little restrictions are in place.

We are all going to catch it sooner or later, that is inevitable. And the ones that are going to die, are going to die. Just like the flu.

The purpose of the lockdowns was supposed to be so that the hospitals were not overrun. Now that the number of patients at the hospitals are reducing and temporary hospital structures are being torn down, restrictions should be eased up. They should have been eased before tearing down the temporary structures in case easing them results in a surge of patients.

But people seem to have forgotten the purpose behind the lockdowns and think that they will prevent people from catching the disease. It only serves to prevent everyone from getting it all at once and spreads it out over a longer period.

Even if it takes another year. I'm sure people can sacrifice a few things until then. We are talking about saving human lives. That should be number 1 priority not blowing a party favor while pulling your kids out of a jumping castle 🥳.
But so long as the hospitals are not overcapacity, does it really save any lives or just spread out the number of deaths that would have happened in the course of 4 months, into 18 months?

Meanwhile, everyone skips oncology appointments for 18 months and a lot of preventable cancer deaths occur.

Maybe we can all wait it out until there is a cure or preventative 🤷‍♀

I don't know the truth of the matter, but in the UK, they are expecting an additional 18,000 deaths from cancer next year as a result of delayed cancer treatment:

One patient with bowel cancer told the Guardian that he had had a CT scan but his planned colonoscopy - a diagnostic procedure - at a hospital in south-west England had been postponed for an unspecified period because the hospital's endoscopy department had closed until the Covid-19 crisis eases.

"I am totally gutted to think I've been chucked on the pile in favour of coronavirus victims. For all I know they are giving me a death sentence [by] not looking at my case," he said.

Another person said their mother's surgery to remove a 3cm bladder tumour had been delayed for up to eight weeks because her hospital's urology department had been shut as part of its preparations for Covid-19 cases. "This is worse than any nightmare I might ever have imagined in my darkest hour," the relative said.
I know this is the U.K., but in the USA lots of "elective" surgery and diagnostics checks are not being done during this period. Lots of doctors offices are simply closed.

As we are slowing the spread of covid-19 people are losing their jobs, losing their businesses, losing their homes and struggling just to survive.

Depression will rise, suicides will increase, spousal and child abuse has risen, people will die from not getting preventative tests done.

Our economy is collapsing, people are suffering, people are dying...

Im beginning to think this lockdown was not necessary. It may be that m ok st are going to get it and a percentage are unfortunately going to die. Alot of politics at play here.

Not too be insensitive but who cares? All these events must occur
Humans are imperfect an fallible. Just worry about your space you occupy while here and you will be much better off. They(EVIL) propagate FEAR, don't buy into it.
