I'm just driving along and noticed that the uber app forced me offline. When I swiped to go online, the app had me do an identity verification (via camera in selfie mode). It was painless and quick, but that was the first time that happened to me in the 6 weeks or so that I've been Ubering.

Big Bro watching you.

Happened to me a few weeks ago during the snow. I guess I must have been too good a job and they wanted to make sure it was still me behind the wheel. I gave a sneer and sent it off

I've had to do this now on 4 different occasions in 2 months. I believe they are implementing their new "FRT" face recognition technology. Which, they've kept under wraps. Not unlike how Uber operates. It could help us "legit drivers" and hurt the phony posers. That would be good for us legit drivers (as long as you don't mind sacrificing your privacy). But good for the pax especially the women pax.

I've done this twice in eight months.

Both times were when I got off work early from my regular job and was driving when I normally don't. I think the Uber systems have an algorithm which monitors and red flags such things.
