Dropped off in Jersey, then Uber gives me a rider not going to NYC. whats up with that?

it is up to you to pick up or not, if you pick up , you will be using jersey rate which is lot cheaper

That's when you use your destination filter, set it to somewhere far beyond Manhattan, something like JFK

By the way, JC is the easiest place to find a rider heading to NYC, just have to know where to hang around

Even destination filter is no guarantee of landing in NYC. Stay in NJ and do cheap jobs, come to NYC and do no jobs.
There is a major over saturation of drivers in NYC now.

Legally they can only dispatch you a job back to NYC for licensing and insurance regulations, however Uber is know for making up their own rules and not following the law

Destination filter to JFK. If by the off chance you actually get a ride to JFK, "accidentally" end the trip after crossing the tunnel and have them re request you.

For the record, I was in jersey city once. Set filter to JFK. Got a ping that took me hazier NJ. Apparently uber nav thought it would be better for me to take the Bayonne bridge to Verrazano to belt to go to JFK from jersey city. I wish I could say I have never been more pissed at uber, but I have worse stories than that
