Perhaps she wasn't prepared to find out what so many middle class white Americans actually think about the police.
They view themselves as selfless Heroes and believe that the public or at least the middle class white public adores them. I suppose it is quite a blow to find out that many Americans fear them as Germans feared the Gestapo.

I prefer "anti bad cop" personally.

Speaking of which, I hope he didn't join the dark side and decide to sport a uniform for the summer on Ocean Ave in Sea Girt.
He is a retired cop, so I don't see him going back on the job and ruining his pension.

As with everything and everyone, you cannot paint with such a broad brush Lepke. This particular individual has been one of the most steady guys on this forum, and seems like a genuinely nice guy. As he is a retired cop, and has voiced his opinion for and against cops in general, but never went off like some others here.

This is New Jersey where double dipping is the norm. Lots of cops retire and then go on to Second careers as cops.
There is a high-ranking cop in one of the Brunswick's who retired from his position to collect a pension, got rehired for some other position for 6 months and then got hired to take the position that he retired from.
So he is both collecting his full pension and his full salary for the same job that he retired from and is now back at.
Just par for the course in New Jersey.

That was meant to be a dig at the armed tax collectors that surround everyone's favorite seaside haunt. I don't think he was a bad cop or that he's the type of guy that would want any part of that nonsense. I don't take him for a snowflake either so I'm surprised he disappeared too. I hope he's alright.
