So says the cop I talked with last night.

I had two twelve year olds get in my car at 10:13PM. A cop had someone pulled over right next to me so after I politely kicked them out of the car, I called the cop over and told him that if he wants to bring about public safety and get an easy ticket to boot, hang out for a moment because those 12 year olds right there are trying to get an Uber.

"What's wrong with that?"

"It's against the law. CPUC says TNC drivers can't pick up unaccompanied minors."

"Not that I'm aware of. And it's not even curfew yet. I don't see anything wrong with it."

Well, how about that!

I don't care how informed or uninformed any given cop is, or what the law is. I'm not picking up unaccompanied minors for multiple reasons.

Cops are not lawyers, They might not know every single law or remember it wrong, Their words don't mean shit because you might run into a different cop next time and each one of them can interpret things differently. When Segway was released, Ask three different cops for its rule of the road and you will get three different answers, And it will only take one to give you a ticket.

Eh. To my understanding, we're not properly insured the moment we start the trip with them. Even if it's not against the law, we still open ourselves up to lawsuits and deactivation. Not worth the hassle.

On a related note, I'm REALLY tired of not getting a cancellation fee for wasting my time driving to a kid when it's not convenient to wait for the timer to expire.

its not against any laws but ubers law, that says its you can get fired for picking them up and punished with a higher cancel rate if if you cancel
I think it is in some states, if it was either way i feel it's a stupid law if you have parental consent

It actually says u can you just have to have it taken apart fully and locked in the glove box.
That isn't CCW, then...and does nobody no good.

And pretty certain if driver simply mentioned they had a fully disassembled gun of any sorts anywhere in the car, both Uber & Lyft would perma-deactivate. Simply cuz that's how they roll.

1. No, I was promoting the safety of those minors. Whether the cop lets the next driver go or not, is not my business. Keeping those kids safe, is.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out-
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak for me.

Say those kids get raped, kidnapped, killed, in an accident with a drunk Uber driver, whatever. All because you didn't speak up since you told yourself your dumbass excuse.

If the kids were 8 years old would you still say that shit? If so, you're scum. If not, then you're scum for making a double standard between a 12 year old minor and an 8 year old one. Sorry, they're both minors and you're scum for caring about yourself more than innocent children. Don't ever respond to another one of my posts again.

Worse than illegal (and OP knows this, thus didn't take them). Driving an unaccompanied is stupid as stupid can get. All they have to say is one word of inappropriate and driver arrested and charged.

I got some squirt 12 year old, when I asked how old he was (simply to set the stage for Cancelling) he tries to tell me he's 16 (ooops, he shoulda lied to 18 - still wouldn't have taken him). When I told him nicely that we can not take unaccompanied minors he started singing the, But my mom can't pick me up. Told him I was sorry, but no can do. Of course he then let's out the, F**k you buddy! And walks away. Can only wonder what the next driver that DID pick up punk JR, had to put up with...

2. Snitches get stitches? No, that's merely the mantra of a coward. A coward who clings to that excuse to justify selfish cowardice and inaction.
