There are a lot of negative comments on this forum, so for new drivers, and people thinking about it, do not be discouraged. There is a lot of upside in this industry with Uber. In particular, the passengers, who are a delight to work with, in my experience. Although, I do not work the late night early hours shifts.

If you are looking for an income top-up, you can do a lot worse than be an Uber driver.

...there is ola, taxify and didi is coming...anyone driving for uber in heavy traffic has heavy rocks instead of brain in their head...you are subsidizing uber since uber put upfront price, the others-,unlike uber,-are paying for your time and distance...
...only worse than uber driver would be to be a gocatch driver...;););):D

Now as a part time gig on the assumption you have a real job elsewhere earning 30ks a year.
Correct me if I'm wrong and after the booking fee 50 cents? along with the 1 dollar government levy being removed as well.

Uber take 27.5 %
Fuel 10%
GST about 7% allowing for inputs
Personal tax 30%

Please correct my figures if they are wrong because after the booking fee and government levy are taken out I have you as a part time driver working for 25.5 to 27 cents in the dollar.
( allowing for Uber paying GST on their take)

So you do 15 jobs at an average of 12 dollars each in let's say 10 hours of driving you make a profit of 42 dollars?

4.20 dollars an hour?

If there are worse part time jobs out there I'm not sure I could imagine what they are?

If you have been driving long enough to have put a tax return in as a part time driver what did you work your profit to be?

I haven't allowed wear and tear on your vehicle but as most Uber drivers last about a month in Adelaide it's neither here nor there.

I think I could get around those seals that they put on the McDonald's bags and dine fairly well :)
I have to be honest, I had to check today's date to see it wasn't Friday the 13th, or some other significant day and date.

Maybe it has something to do with us just coming through the longest night of the year. Perhaps the planet has tilted a fraction of a degree from its usual axis. There are so many possibilities, but whatever the cause, I am still in shock, absolute shock!!

To use the words dine well and McDonalds in the same sentence is just too much to contemplate.

My better half is OS for a month. Desperate times. I am no longer capable of fending for myself and am one step away from rummaging though garbage bins. If that fails I'm going McDonald's.

Come on dude you made OJ out my nose. About the only thing worse than being a slave uber ant is being an actual slave, like being captured in an African village, chained up, then sent on a ship to Honduras to work the coffee plantations.
