Was entering Terminal 1 early this afternoon, with a drop-off, and got a re-match for Terminal 3.
On the way past terminals 1 & 2, I noticed large numbers of disgruntled looking pax, waiting in pickup
zones with their luggage. I also noticed rideshare pickup zones were mostly clear of Uber and Lyft drivers.
(???) Was there a problem at the pit?

To eliminate the concerns over drivers lingering at the terminal, they need to start giving rematches to drivers approaching terminals prior to their drop-offs, then institute a 3 minute timer once driver reaches the terminals, then knock them off-line. This to eliminate them waiting by terminals and causing congestion there, to address that concern by the city.

Uber and Lyft need to aggressively lobby the city on this plan. This a failure on multiple levels. Uber used to be push significant legal resources at changing governmental policies, they are woefully absent now. Pathetic.

Stop going to the pit and rematch will come back.

I can't imagine why anyone would drive to the pit 30 minutes round-trip and then wait another half hour or 45 minutes for a ride makes no sense to me at all
Because the pit is offering a $3 surge !!!
In the old days, $3 would have been a crappy tip - now it's an incentive for the desperate.

And it can go up to $9 or more, depending on the time of the day, flights coming in and the number of drivers in the pit.

Recently after drop off I decided to go to the pit even when it said 60 drivers, just because it was surging and slow night, and best place to take a break from driving around. As soon as I got into the pit I got a request with a sticky surge I had already.

So the pit is not a guaranteed hit or bust; it’s all about timing and your luck.

I’m speaking based on my graveyard shift, less traffic issues.

I love rematch to come back. Today, on my usual AM run, I had DF set to ORD as I going to work, 9AM arrival. Got a request and lucky me it was an ORD dropped off, T3, Spirit Airlines. As I was leaving the airport, and with about 50 minutes left on my DF timer, I got a pin for a pool ride that was supposed to be 30+ minutes, pin was at one of the cargo facilities around Manheim. Funny thing was that my phone was still saying HEAD TO LOT, that was an automatic decline. I thought that you couldn't get outside request while you still had the HEAD TO LOT message displaying. Who knows.

Uber is still cherry picking rides for the drivers.

Sunday night. Driving from the west burbs back to the city. Wasn’t in a huge hurry to get home but I turn on the DF.

Trip #1 just short of 8pm. Get a request in Hinsdale and the guy is bound for ORD. The airport technically is Chicago city limits but nowhere near to where I set the DF.

While on the ramp from EB I-88 to NB I-294 I get a stacked ping with a surge adjustment increase from the terminals. While still 15-20 min away from the airport. If rematches truly have come back this is quite the one coming from 15 miles away. I accept the request, drop off the first guy at T1 then pick up a couple from the T1/T2 pickup area and they’re bound for Wilmette. Again nowhere near to where I set the DF (in which I never got kicked off of it).

Thought rematches only occurred if you’re still online while in the terminal area. But from 15 miles away and with surge, I’ll take it.

Wish I had a chance to screen shot the trip request while on the active trip.

Wow! That would mean the rematched pax had to wait awhile for you to even get to ORD.
The pit must have been near empty, or all screwed up. I didn't go out last night, but, I
checked the numbers in the pit queue periodically last night, (curiosity), and most of the time it showed
UberX 1-5.

It amazes me. Wilmette. So we can assume that a pax can afford a cab next minute. But they prefer to wait 20-40 (one of my pax said she waited 40 mins once) mins got get UL which is not cheaper by any chance. Where is the logic?

Lol it wasn’t a rematch dude, they had no drivers at O’Hare Sunday night, everyone must of worked during the day cause it felt like there was no drivers in downtown either... O’Hare at one point Sunday night had a surge of $22 with 1-5 X drivers in queue

Was just a stacked ping, but it worked out I’m sure, you must of done good on that ride to Wilmette since that surge was $11+ basically all night

I have gotten pings incoming on 190 a couple of times. I would not call it a rematch, but more of a "prematch".
The only other time I've ever gotten a rematch or terminal ping was also on I-190. Was crossing River Road when the request came in. Was one of those Monday holidays a couple of winters ago when it snowed either on Sunday or early Monday.
