Hey Uber People of DC!
I hope you are doing well out here.
I reside here in the DMV, and for a long time was not able to start with Uber because of registering errors when the money was great. I have registered and am ready to start driving for Uber and Lyft. I have everything I need set up and in place to start driving to cover all my bases, including ready to switch insurance to rideshare with Geico, the Virginia TNC with card and decal, business cards, dashcam for outside and interior, throw up bags, charging station, gum and water, and light up decals.
I have a job right now and I'm working part time; it pays well and has full time benefits. I should note I am enrolled to college for the fall as well but will be attending part time. What I've come on here to ask and would greatly appreciate your feedback and input based on your expertise.
Is it worth in the DMV area to do Uber and Lyft using a new car?? I have a 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid with 14,500 miles on it right now that I would use and have a 2007 Nissan Quest van. I am making payments on the Fusion, and with the commercial insurance it would be under $500 a month. I get well over 50 MPG on it and over 650 miles per full tank, so gas wouldn't be much of an expense. I also have unlimited oil changes, brakes/ tire protection, (will replace no cost) 10 year warranty and plan to pretty much fix any and everything on it.
I want to see what you guys are making out here, and if it'd be worth using my Fusion and enough to leave the job I have now so I can have freedom to focus solely on college?? I work very close to an airport and would like to use it mostly for that purpose and avoid drunk passengers throwing up all over the car.
What do you guys advise on what's best? I truly appreciate you guys reading this post and offering any insight and assistance!!
