So I drove last night and did about 15 rides. My rating dropped this is second week in a row and getting tired of these college kids thinking it's funny or cool to give us ratings below 4.. I am a great driver car always clean always have a smile on my face and know boston very well. I login into my uber driver account I say half way threw the night and guess what I see a rating of 3.. It went up after I did more rides but that shit pissed me off. I'm done giving people 5 stars *** that from now on it's 4 stars or below people will see how it feels to get a lower rate. Kids are playing with people's jobs they will close accounts. Lets here some feed back, Is your rating taking hits so far since the college kids are back

Do most pax concern themselves with their won rating? I doubt they check their rating much.

My husband been struggling on his rating and he just started. Just got an email from UBER to get his rating up or else they will terminate his acct. He is only 4.59... they say he must be above 4.6 to keep his acct.
Tell him don't drive late at night for awhile picking up drunks or college kids. Work early morning, Rush hours, airports if permitted to do so. Business people rate higher. Also have him confirm address on phone where pax are going, ask them if any preferred route. If not drive navigated route.

I have dropped alot in ratings this past week... thanks to College kids. They suck at putting the right location. Even though a couple were my fault. I drove fast over a bump and screwed up a trip. But whatevah.

This isn't the best advice. Be careful you don't end up with a passenger that's given you 9 minutes to get to the airport in middle of rush hour. That will zing his rating real quick! Also driving during rush hours in Boston will have your husband thinking working McDonalds isn't such a bad gig.

My advice for him until he gets his rating up is to work the outskirts of downtown Boston for the next week or so. Places like Somerville, Medford, Southie, and etc. These areas are easier to navigate and pick people up. As soon as he gets a drop off in downtown boston log off the app. Do not pick up a pax in downtown Boston. Just not worth it. They never seem to go more than 2 miles and takes 30 minutes to complete an average trip with all the traffic lights and pedestrians. He'll be making 8 bucks an hour real quick this way.

Also if he doesn't have an EZpass already tell him to not even think about driving. Pax will not tolerate you sitting in the cash lane while cars are whizzing by you on the EZpass lanes. You can pick em up in person sameday at any EZpass centers throughout MA. Check out MassDot web page for most convenient location.

I'm so happy pax can't rate cabbies; my UberTaxi rating stinks, but I've never been deactivated.

When I took Hailo (taxi app) customers, I had a great rating. These were people who knew they were ordering a Boston taxi...I've had a few order UberTaxi and seem puzzled when a TAXI, not an X show up! Disappointed? Maybe they don't like me or the cab partition, and rate me poorly vs. a nice Uber X or Black experience.

There are several posts on the forums on how to improve your ratings, read those and see what may work for him. I can appreciate the comment about college kids from living in Boston most my life, I know live in Ca and drive a lot in Pasadena and near the colleges in LA .. First thing , avoid picking up College kids period, especially drinking hours, and avoid fraternity houses, college kids are the worse when they are in groups.
And I agree with the comment from 5494 , try and drive low traffic areas if you can for awhile.

1 star all a-hole college kids...soon no one will pick them up and never pick up lower than 4.7 or 5.0s (5.0-usually new users.)

Make his bread & butter pick ups 4.7s to 4.9s until ratings improve

I am waiting to get approved to be a driver for uber. After reading this forum I am beginning to wonder if this is just a bad idea all around. I am unemployed, and hoped that this would be a good fit, while I am still searching for a day-time position.
