What a night! Amongst the uber app freezing up and then going in circles towards Parramatta due to roadworks (which I need to find better alternatives), I had a group of people order an uber at Circular Quay to Randwick. They helped a young woman in my car and look after her they said. I get to her destination and finish the trip. She then mumbles take me somewhere else. What? I'm then able to decipher she lives 4 minutes away. I couldn't understand her mumbling but incredibly she types it in my Waze. We get there and she's out cold. Tried waking her up to help her home a few time but she wasn't up to it. Not wanting any part of this dilemma anymore (driver + female passenger) dilemma, I decide to call ambulance and Police. Ambulance arrives and the 2 males grab her arm somewhat vigorously and are able to coax her out and start walking her up the road to her house. I ask one of the ambulance guys for his name in case I need to do an incident report and he barks No! '404, that's all you need to know' . So I then get in my car and off I go. I cancel police call and update uber after having asked them to 1 ⭐ her which they reply that they're happy to do so amongst the usual generic but nevertheless supportive responses and that they'll also take her off my account so no requests ever come through.

I won't let anyone into my vehicle that can't walk on their own or communicate coherently.
GG, you're a better man that I am....
Sorry to say, but if it was me, she'd still be at the Quay...

Btw, GG, you did the absolute best thing by calling ambulance & police.
5* to you for thinking responsiblely for all parties in a shitty situation.

I think in law, if you take a semi conscious person in your car, you in fact owe a duty of care to that person. If something goes wrong with her, you are likely in breach of that duty and you're up for negligence, because you have effectively taken onto yourself to look after her, on the basis that you know there is no one else in the car that can look after her other than you. Not sure if this makes sense. To avoid any possible issues, I'd LEAVE THE DRUNK where he/she is and move on! .. You don't want to be set up ...

I learnt that lesson too. Nearly two years ago, pax unable to walk and, as I figured out later, on mushrooms, with his very sober mates. At the end of the trip I had to carry his heavy carcass to the door of his parent's house, ring the doorbell and wait for an answer. None forthcoming, I had to leave him on the verandah to sleep it off. Vowed to never take someone in that state again unless they had company. And his "mates" clearly were not.

I had one girl who I though was fine..she crashed out and I tried to wake her obviously the wines she mentioned had finally worked their magic. So I went to the front door of her home knocked and had her Father come get her..he was appreciative when I explained that I could not touch her. I felt better too that she got home in one piece and unharmed..

Most sensible way to handle the situation,
