I just got renewal letter for Hire and Reward annual policy with extras: Legal Cover and Public Liability for £1350 (4 Years NCB). I though, it is a bit expensive and started digging.

I saw that Lloyds Bank has a car insurance offer so filled up the form online and bang!
Third Party Only/ Social and Domestic Only with no extras for a £3500!
WTF?

Now serious question.
Any recommended Broker for a non-Business policy or should I use the ones from the list?

Letusrobu.co.uk are reasonable. Third party only. They need proof that you have the knowledge (just pretend lol thats what the rest of em do).

@deesto and @Cabbie2B thanks for this list again, went with Bluedrop as they came at £1100 this year with 6 years NCB.

DCL I have been with 2 years came in more expensive. It took me half a day to ring around, so definitely worth the time. 👌
Is bluedrop one of the approved insurers? Because from December if its not uber won't accept it

I use one of these approved users and now I’ve been told that they won’t insure me for the next year as I’ve had two accidents, which were both not my fault - really annoying that there’s nothing I can do when one person goes in the back of me, and the other doesn’t give way at a ‘give way’ sign and goes into the side of me

Freeway gave me best quote out of everyone £1350. Does anyone had them before?

Another one "bell insurance brokers" gave me quote for £1250 compliant with uber.
Used Freeway last year and I was impressed with them, however they won’t insure me this year as I had two accidents during the year, although neither were my fault and I claimed on the other persons insurance both times

NOTICE FOR 2022 onwards:

As you may know Uber now only support the below approved providers only (with Instadoc) - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED WHEN YOU SHOP AROUND!
(However, If you drive outside of London, you’re free to choose any insurance provider you like)

Acorn Insurance / Haven Insurance (Motorcade)
Antilo
DCL/Nelson/Headway
Freeway
Inshur
Mulsanne (Fare Cover) - only issued by CCG or CUA
Walsingham Motor Insurance Limited
Zego

LET'S KEEP THIS LIST PINNED AND UPDATED NEVERTHELESS. There is an investigation going on with the trades industry on whether this is falls under fair practices anyways. So we may well be able to go back to the master list one day in London, if found guilty of breaching the fair practices code and CMA.

I couldn't even get a quote through Fare Cover/CCG/CUA. Not sure why Uber is restricting this so much now - totally unfair and impossible to get a competitive price anymore now. So hopefully things will change soon!

Sorry guys, one more addendum here. I've been ringing around other brokers (which were not officially listed in Uber's official website), including my last broker (Quotax). It turns out that they CAN use the providers listed in the official website. So for example, Quotax could quote me with Antilo, Flag with Haven etc. In turn, they CAN upload the documents onto Uber platform using Instadoc - hey presto!
Freeway uses Sabre underwriters, for example. Then,
Acorn - Haven
DCL - Nelson
Inshur - Inshur
CCG - Mulsanne
Zego - Wakom
Freeway - Sabre

Etc

Although Uber do not explicitly state this, it seems Uber is more concerned about the actual official underwriters they list on the website, rather than the Brokers! That would be quite good news. Still fairly limiting choices. But better than none!

(Personally, i think Antilo, Nelson, Haven & Mulsanne are terrible underwrittlers - also somebody at a reputable broker said they are not really A rated, and not all are based in UK) - but let this not be a bias for your quote, nor count any of this as advice (but just something to bear in mind when you ring around)!
