Was on my way home after a long day, turned on destinations feature and I got a ping a min away (X) so I said what the heck and it was also a 1.5 surge. 8700 block of Roswell Road. PAX hops in and it's a trip to Fayetteville 49 miles away at 2:30pm in the afternoon. 1 hour later via 285 west and old national highway we arrive, nice trip down traffic was actually pretty good. I end the ride and it was a whopping $41.00 I cleared, decent but nowhere what I was expecting. Turn back on destinations feature to get back to Northridge and get zero pings and an hour and a half ride back home due to traffic now all backed up.

I drive a newer ford explorer and 99% of the time I'm on XL only, now I shall bump that up to 100% lesson learned.

Yes I learned my lesson soon after they dropped X to 75 cents per mile. I started in January 2014 when I believe the rates were $1.20. I stayed patient with all of the rate cuts until I was losing money. I have done XL exclusively for about a year. I don't get many pings but when I do it is well worth it. I gave a college kid from KSU a ride home to Fayetteville last week. I helped him load all of his junk into my Dodge Caravan, and my cut was $90. I would have had to do probably 7 trips to make that much with X. I am just afraid that Uber will start cutting the XL rates soon with an over saturation of drivers. This is why Uber will always be my part timer. They can't be trusted.

I hope anyone wanting to buy xl and select do some honest number crunching. The expenses and depn on those vehicles eats into the profits real quick when factoring no return trip. And if u decide to wait in the car for the next ping u may be waiting a few hours.

Ideally this works for someone who has girls throughout the city and he can hang there till next ping

I dropped X 6 weeks after I started over year ago. Totally off my app ... not even left as an option in case I was desperate
I'll never be that desperate.
Just before I dropped X, I got a ping in Sandy springs during rush hour ... pax Jaguar sedan was in the shop. Took him to distant west Cobb trip was 1 1/2 hours in traffic. Made a whopping $16. With no tip and I was over an hour away from my home. Made $6.40 per before fuel and other expenses. No thanks.
