Stay safe.
Wear a mask/respirator and googles.
Also, do not touch your mask and googles with unclean hands.
And wipe down your car with disinfectant or wipes after/before starting your shift.
In addition to this, changing the air in the car after each trip might also help. Find an empty street, speed up, open all windows and get fresh air inside.
Wiping the car after each trip will be even safer, especially if you get a vulnerable person.

ADVICE:
Communicate to each passenger about the risk that the trip involves, and advise at avoiding direct contact with a vulnerable person.
Raise awareness about people showing no symptoms but being contagious and infecting others. ATM it is believed to be the main source of transmission.
Advise that they shouldn't take any chances with the vulnerable.

If you can't communicate in english, print the advice on a piece of paper ( costs 1£ ) and I don't know - stick it somewhere in the rear - where it's clearly visible.

Tough times ask for appropriate measures.

Now, are you serious???

What's more worth it, health or rolling a dice?
But what of the drivers who live week to week to survive? What of the newly self employed who will get nothing from the govt? What of the drivers who are the sole breadwinners? What of the drivers who aren't entitled to UC because they have a partner who works, but it barely covers overheads? Every driver out on that road has a story and a reason for being out there. If that story is merely greed, so be it but not everyone is the same.

When you go selfemployed, then you should have had a thought about it.

Still no answer.

Majority of newbies came to this trade watching 007 or 3k challenge. They never thought of a bad shift let alone this kind of natural disaster!

YouTuber should take some responsibility...or government.

stay home

Think it's fair to say there's plenty of people who despite being self employed for a few years that don't understand the discipline of being self employed.

I did it for 4 years via a limited company, I kept 25% of earnings in the company account to make sure I was covered for most eventualities. I also paid for income protection insurance. It's called being responsible, even more so if you have a family at home

To add, if you're self employed and the job doesn't allow you to put 25% away you need to ask yourself is it worth being self employed?

On the bright side, atleast most of us will have a job to go back to. The weak hearted and part timers will pack it in as it won't be worth it for them anymore which may restore the balance between jobs available and drivers.

There are people out there who have no jobs to go back to. Car showrooms closed and losing money in sales and depreciating assets, anything associated with airports is 95% finished, pubs and restaurants may reopen but how long before their debt catches up with them. And along with the virus spreading and people dying, we got drivers worried about feeding themselves and bills to pay when in reality all it will take is a few hard months for drivers once this is all blown over to get back on their feet.

And what do you think that all those people who lost their jobs and became unemployed are going to do when things calm down. That's why companies like Splend don't give a toss. They know that there will be a long line of new mugs ready to rent their cars. When this settles down all those unemployed are going to be looking for a way to earn a few quid with no barrier to entry. A new wave of warriors will appear to compete with all the current drivers trying to catch up.

I don't think it will be that easy to get into taxi/private hire in the aftermath. An application can take 3 to 6 months and I don't think people will sit around and wait that long without a job. Only time will tell.

Gilga must be able to survive for at least 5 years on what he was claiming to be earning every week. Which makes me wonder why he's so angry recently.
