hello, on Saturday night I was driving around the Philly area with passengers and got a request to do a reservation at 10PM. As I was unsure of where I would be with a normal passenger at that time I declined it, but I wish I had taken it just to see what it is like as I never had a reservation request before (started Uber in April). Would this have been from someone that I drove before who specifically requested me? That is what I was thinking anyway. Anyone understand how reservations work and if it is likely that this passenger requested me for the ride? Please share anything you know about reservations, even if I am likely to not be offered them now that I declined one, etc. thanks!

They are shitty , in my market I only accept them if the rider is rated real low and it will be my first ride of the day , I accept it , then head to pickup at scheduled time and shuffle them , pays full amount , 0 ****s given , it my way of giving back to the community . I turn app on 40 mins before reservation , sorry but I do xl , and those cancels pay $20 , and I use it for coffee for the week 😁

Well I've done a couple of reservations already and it will give you runs toward that pickup location but it won't give you any runs near that time so that way you can get to that one that you got reserved.

In fact it sends you right there like it's your next trip.

Of course the problem is where are you going to be and is it cost effective to go 20 miles out of your way just to do a 5-minute Reserve run?

Remember to make any decent PROFIT you need to make more on the meter, including tips, then the amount of miles you do everyday.

I mainly take XL airport reservations because unlike most long distance Uber rides nowadays with the crappy upfront fare price cut, they sometimes actually pay what they used to a few years ago. I never really end up having to wait on these riders, at least not now that the feature has been out a while and they’re pretty serious about getting to the airport. Sometimes it even gives me a second reservation worth more than usual for about 15 minutes after I dropped them off, from a hotel near the airport. Only during really busy times of travel, like the summer, but it’s nice to see it try to get one thing right. So that can be $75 for well under 2 hours of my time. Don’t hit decline if you don’t want a reservation, there’s a really stupid glitch where it counts as a real decline and will even log you out way later in the day by counting it towards three declines.

Saturday it was Jags versus Pittsburgh. I had 27 reservations from 3:00 a.m. to I think it was around 10 or 11:00 a.m. show up all going to the airport.

Most were for the downtown area, which only pays $20.93 on a reservation to the airport for 16 MI. So round trip would be 32 Mi for $20.93.

and as far as a pax has requested a trip from you BS, that's all it is is BS. They just throw that crap out there and see who takes it.

I use to like them when it was quiet, covid times, was no chance of a surge, no garantee of work, so I knew I could make some money, and line them all up near each other, use to do 15 per shift, they were pre booking reservations.

NO Surge pricing at all, they get sent out early if it comes thru as a normal ping, expects me to sit outside the riders location 20-40mins early, then if the rider cancels, which sucks, you only get the cancel fee. So lose money, happens. you can also get a ping that takes you far away from the reservation,

reservations go to anyone. Doesn’t matter how many you decline, they keep coming, only good if it’s quiet, and you want to head in a certain directions

now I refuse every single one of them, doesn’t seem worth it
