UberX income ain't gonna come close to being able to cover their lifestyle levels, and for the amount of effort required they will quickly (as in, first day) find out it's not for them.

They will likely not compete with Uber X, and if anything do this part time to cover emergency bills beyond what their multi-month severance package covers, until they land their next job which they will. Unlike most of us, they have a solid employment history, social skills, and marketable work skills and will not have terrible difficulty finding another job, even if they have to eventually take a pay cut.

Your prediction is bunk

Most of these people look at an Uber driver as being on the same level as a fast food worker. Uber isn't even going to come remotely close to being on the list of last resort options.

Somebody used to working six-figure jobs for the last decade isn't going to suddenly think that a McDonald's job is going to be an option just because they got laid off.

Most of these laid off tech workers are immigrants who are on their work visas. With those work visa restrictions they can’t drive for Uber or can’t do any non IT related work. In fact for example H1B visa holder with out employment for 60 days have to leave the country.
Unless they marry a R/S driver

Actually fast food workers have paid training and all sorts of other obstacles. Most gig jobs do not need training. They are just a side hustle used to supplement an income temporarily or permanently. You are normally hired within 48hours and receive payment right away with fast pay..

Fast food workers don't have to bring their own friers or cooking oil either. :ROFLMAO:
