$2/mile seems like the bare minimum you should want to make for super long trips unless the passenger is offering a cash up front tip.
I definitely agree with this.

Even at $2 per mile, with return dead miles it becomes $1 per mile, that's borderline acceptable, only good if you don't want to do too many trips.

Yeah, on Lux if I do an hour trip and don’t get tipped it feels only borderline worth it. 888 miles and 14 hours? I’ll be pissed as **** if I don’t get a healthy tip. Me and the passenger are supposed to be BFFs after that kind of trip, how could they do me like that? 😅

Anyone who takes the trip should just negotiate with the rider for cash payment, Uber likely charged him at least 1200, you two can meet in the middle for a win win situation.

What specific law are you referring to? I can find laws related to truck and bus drivers, but nothing fully applicable to ride-share. The 12 hour limit seems self imposed.
Good point. I just went looking for it myself and couldn't actually find it. However, the hours rules are imposed by Uber and Lyft themselves, so it's a moot point.

However, it is possible that other states have regs on this. I haven't looked, so if you want, you can.

Yeah, there may be some local laws…I’m guessing since rideshare hasn’t been around forever, it’s not something that was directly addressed in federal or most state laws. Imposing that rule themselves was smart.

It's a TCP law which believe it or not, Uber actually has one. LOL

Going off @Chocoholic scenario call it $250 for gas is averaging upper 20s 28 mpg if not better and say $4 a gallon 63.42 gallons over 1,776 miles round trip with the cheaper state fuel ups. Gasbuddy shows it can be done for $211 with a 20/30 mpg vehicle scenario. Would take a 20 city/25 highway mpg vehicle to be at $253 by their guide. Unless you're driving like a grandma or making lots of stops 61 mph average they say it'll take 14.33 hours (860 minutes)... take out the 1/2 hour for 28 hours round trip $842 upfront - $80 hotel somewhere = $762 / 28 hours $27.21 per hour. Take out $60 in food if they don't pay for it or tip up. $700 / 28 = $25 an hour. At least it's $700+ guaranteed income over just 2 days. Might get some trips back in the California borders eventually. I got lucky with a Palm Springs to Beverly Hills trip before after my own out of state road trip to Arizona. I have ignored Vegas and Arizona trip requests lately. Nobody gets paid for sleeping time at home or away, unless you have investments.

Would think some of them would hop on a way cheaper bus if flights don't beat the ride cost, then take an Uber from the main city. But that spot is still 183 miles from Albuquerque, which Uber shows costing a $219 ride from ABQ airport. The app won't show the full trip fare from Hollywood.

Or he could timeout like the guy that just happened to plow into 25 police cadets while supposedly passing out at the wheel. NBC4 interviewed him. Seems like the cadets beat him up or at least dragged him out after he might of avoided injury. Some people said he was up late then off to work extra early and saw his face looking downward...probably not looking at a cell phone. The attorney wouldn't let him answer how the injuries happened.
Thought I could drive up to San Francisco before on little sleep. I kept nodding off up into the Grapevine and said screw this, headed back home.
Missed out on a sports team winning a state championship.

Uuuuuuuuuuummm . . . gas in AZ is typically 15 to 20 cents per gallon less than Sams / Costco in OC. It'll be about $4.35 per gallon. And where do you stay for $80 per night?

Oops terrible math it ranges from $21 an hour after gas down to just $16 something round trip if there aren't trips back into LA from the California side. It's not even $80 to stay there in Ruidoso at Travelodge, Motel 6 etc they all have mid $50 rooms on a Sunday and Monday, the weekends are still around $80 if not booking some random room on the way back. Sunday also has the mid 50s rate.

On the gas side nobody is going to stop this many times but GasBuddy's recommendation from LA to NM...
Depends what type of vehicle is used all of us have different MPG and most sure don't get the factory combined.
Going off some random 20 city/30 highway number. $3.58 per gallon average costing $208.
A 28/39 latest Camry would only cost $157. Extra add on depends on how much it cost to fill up in LA to start with.

Those 5.00 are most likely scammer account … How many times have you gotten that the last few weeks? Lol
I dislike 5.00* more than 4.6x*.

Another very common "newb" rating seems to be 4.88* but at least the 4.88* has taken some rides.

Lyft used to show the pings from new accounts as "New*" on the ping screen but now shows as 5.0* on the initial screen, and you have to tap the picture to show the # of rides and New* rating.

So here is
I'm going to watch that Mr beast video again, but I don't remember anybody growing any facial hair / stubbles during that trip. That coupled with no screenshots leads me to believe it was all acting.
I actually doubt it too, frankly asking a driver to go 40 hours straight with minimum food and rest is too risky for any celebrity who values their own lives very much.

Playing the devil's advocate for a quick second, based on appearance it looks like this might have been years ago when Mr beast was lesser known and famous.

But even with photoshopped screenshots of the ride details, I'm not sure I would have necessarily believed it. Driver negotiating for 2 hours with the wife on taking the trip? You would think they would have simply found another driver by then. Some details don't really make sense or add up.

I don't think there are too many humans that can endure that many hours of driving without some sort of stimulant help. Professional truck driver or not.

The whole trip was done in 39 hours so there was no stopping for hotel along the way and driver barely got any rest, freaking scary if you ask me. However the video was from 5 years ago, so Mr beast wasn't even 20 at the time, being young and stupid might have pulled it off.

The actually driving was just 5 minutes and pretty uneventful, with few scenes along the way and no record of entering LA until they hit the hotel, no screenshot of the trip detail or how much they paid was the biggest flag imo. If you do a ride like that, I feel like you definitely want to show off how much you paid in the end.
