I was at a Lyft training season today and asked this...three Lyft managers basically gave me an "I don't know" shrug.
You've arrived & did the arrive thing on the app. You then see (example I used) too many for your capacity. They argue, refuse a second car...blah blah. As we were told, to be paid for a cancel, five minutes must go by after the "arrived clock" has started.
So what do you do to run off the time? Obviously, I'm not going to stay and argue 5 minutes. Do you drive a block or so away until time's up?
