It's not at all, and Lyft is even worse. Whenever your able to long haul it and turn the tables a little bit. LolScreenshots tell the story. XL ride.
$19.54 - Uber / $17.83 - driver.
Guess they are gonna become profitable after all...
Uber support was no help, they won't adjust the surge.

Joe, my point is, I'm tired of doing it with what Uber deems is bare minimum information I need. I'd like clarity, for example, on what is the significant portion of surge that is supposed to go to the driver. What happened to that?Your calculation of what you got paid is correct. Why do drivers keep looking at what the customer paid. You get paid time + distance x rate. Always 100% correct. The app will also tell you if you are going to receive surge.
What happens in this case is Uber will take its normal 20-25% of the fare. The remainder of the money is pooled and given to other riders that participated in that surge. You are angry because you didn't get the money. Uber is showing you with the rider paid to be transparent but then the drivers get irate when things work against them.
Do you get irate when the rider pays $15 and uber pays you $18? It works both ways people!!!. At the end of the year...look at your 1099...it will show you the total paid to Uber and then your cut. I guarantee you that it will be close to your 20-25-27% takeout rate.
Quit complaining...drive...or just quit driving. JEZUS cripes. If you think you are unfairly paid...then just quit.
What about the tips you make...cash..unreported? What about the rides you do for cash...unreported? Awww....Uber gets nothing on your cash rides or negotiated rides. What about all the incentive money you make...when you signup another driver...when you get a streak bonus...etc etc. What about the discounts Uber sends to the passenger as an incentive to ride with UBer? They don't dock you because the rider gets a freebie.
I believe they have to make it available to us because both Uber/Lyft and the pax are both considered our customers under the tos, if I am remembering correctly. @SuzeCB would probably know better though. In fact, because our compensation is no longer based on a commissioned fare, I expect before too much longer that Uber/Lyft will no longer provide customer payment information to us at all. I'm actually surprised this hasn't already occurred. Since our compensation is no longer related in any way to the fare charged to the customer we have no enforcable right to that information.
So are those official numbers?im not surprised they wont adjust the surge.. they say they'll adjust surge on longer trips thats under 5 miles and under 15 minutes.
Where do you see on the app what the destination is before you pickup the pax?If you're worried about commission, find a job that pays you for commission.
You accept a trip, you see the destination. You know how many miles away it is, and the eta. You know exactly how much you're gonna get paid.
If you choose to accept and complete the trip, thats on you. Stop crying about what pax paid
sorry i meant that is they said they adjust longer trips BUT thats under. problem is there is no definition of what a longer trip is. i find it very hard to believe theyd adjust any ride under 15 minutes tho i could be wrongSo are those official numbers?
Do you have a source by any chance?
Where do you see on the app what the destination is before you pickup the pax?
Nobody's crying. Just trying to bring some clarity into driver's earnings and maybe educate those considering taking up this trade.
You're a grown man (or woman). Accepting and starting the trip does not mean you have to do it. If the trip is -EV, you can always tell the pax that you cant do it.So are those official numbers?

Yep, did this on Sunday. Pouring rain, trip to NJ.You're a grown man (or woman). Accepting and starting the trip does not mean you have to do it. If the trip is -EV, you can always tell the pax that you cant do it.
Nothing personal against you lol... but, how many posts do we have to read about Uber taking their 50%? We all know its gonna happen.
As many as it takes so long as the new ant thinking of signing up does his/her research and finds out really what drivers are being paid and what drivers get. You're a grown man (or woman). Wrong, and wrong lolAs many as it takes so long as the new ant thinking of signing up does his/her research and finds out really what drivers are being paid and what drivers get.
I'm sick and tired of explaining to the passengers that what they pay isn't remotely close to what I'm getting. The public's perception of driver's earnings reality is very distorted and Uber wants to keep it that way.
I ditched some ******** last week for doing the same thing. Was going into center city during rush hour anyway. Guy puts his drink on top of my car, opens the back seat and proceeds to start finishing the 3/4 of cigarette he has left. I ask "are you for real?" and he immediately tells me how grateful I should be for such a great long ride into the city! Told him "well now I'm definitely cancelling" so golf boy asks for me to pop the trunk to get his clubs out. Does the thing where he leaves the door and trunk open on purpose so I have to get out to shut them while shouting all of the names at me that he heard his mommy call the store manager at Whole Foods. I punted ********'s golf clubs a solid 20 feet into the street and he repeats back to me "Are you for real?" as I slam my doors and drive off. I think he was too surprised to even know how to react. Now he knows how I feel! ? Thought for sure that was my ticket to deactivation city, but I just got some bullshit form letter about making a rider uncomfortable. Filing it with all of my Lyft "too many cancellation" emails in the junk folder. The pax was also sucking down a cig as he opened my back door, this made it even easier to cancel. Sent a quick note to Uber right after.
Play the game without fear.
