One example....

Rider opted to pay cash but for some reason has no cash after the trip amounting to $9.10

1. Driver reported to Uber Support
2. Uber then increase payout to driver 200% of cash trip amounting to $19.65 with surge fees added.

Rider screwed and driver happy with result. Did you ever experienced this?

Sometimes the fare is $9.00 but with boost, the driver's payout is $18.00.

The extra is from Uber's promotion, not from the rider. Was this the case here?

Nope...I was supposed to collect $9.10 when we arrived at destination.

After reporting rider did not pay up, Support told me my fare had been increased almost double. Earlier fare did not have surge included but latest fare now had surge fee.

If rider had paid up I won't be compensated.

Doesn't sound like manipulation leh, though I have not come across yet. If they truly manipulate this way, it will only piss off riders which does not make sense.
