Last night, I sat at a good spot on the border of West Hollywood and Hollywood for an hour starting at 10:45. I was constantly accepting and canceling pings, dozens and dozens. Requests often far from my location. And yet it never turned red in either zone the whole time (trying to remember, I can't swear to "never," but if it did surge, it wasn't big enough for me to take). A Saturday night, for god sake. THAT is way too many drivers, folks. Yes, end of night had decent surges all over, but not seeing surges most of Saturday night until closing time is ridiculous. Uber feels incredibly broken for LA drivers. P.S. Been driving 1 year & 2 months.

So a lot schools should be back in session within the next two weeks. There should be a nice uptake of airport rides and long distance rides to ucla,usc,uc std, uc Irvine etc. Not to mention a lot of college drivers will cut their hours.

With that said if I see **** of drivers on the road, I start planning my exit strategy for the day. No point in wasting my time when I could be doing something else....

I too went home southbay no surge at 1.30 **** that
I know I know I should just accept it and move on but it will forever baffle me why some of these ppl are driving around no surge rides with 4 ppl screaming at the top of their lungs and crappy music blaring

I did so much skipping last night and felt I was the only one who made it surge. How do the other drivers repay me? By continuing to accept non surge pings on Saturday night. I also witnessed a black guy in what I think is a X car opening the door for the two riders! This happened in Costa Mesa. I yelled out, "You open doors on Uber X?" but I don't think he heard me and didn't want to make a scene. I wish I had some time with him so I could tell him about this site. I bet he refuses tips and of course has water and mints in his vehicle.

Got a 2.1 surge on Plus, it felt so good, but they went about 1.5 miles.. wow what a waste of time. .

I think it might take many months before new recruits stop coming in. Sufficient people need to learn the realities of driving for uber before the idea reaches critical mass. Maybe then people will stop flocking to uber, which will in turn (perhaps) force them to raise rates.

Yes he was out on one of the main roads and no bother to park in the parking lot. He did pull over to the curb in the slow lane at least.
