When I joined, a few months back, Uber sent an email stating they were doing a survey and would pay $200 if you would participate. I went down to participate and they filled out some forms on the computer. Then they asked us to go to some pack and ship place near by. There they did a full finger print scan and the whole hand. If you got your results soon via email you went back to the lot and they gave me four $50 prepaid cards. So there wasn't really a survey, just their way of getting new drivers to submit to the scan. I got my $200. Anybody else have a similar experience?

Yep, do you think Uber will step up and pay for the LiveScans? I don't.

What do you guys think?
I think you're clueless, but that's beside the point.
I hope they make the drivers pay. You cheap ass MF'ers who have something to worry about won't bother paying the fee to find out you're going to be deactivated.

I don't think they would pay. at least not at first. it would cost them millions in LA alone. when they get desperate for new drivers after losing a few hundred K drivers then they will streamline the process by paying and having a Live scan affiliate standing by the Car inspection/on-boarding stations they have set up.

EDIT: I'm also in the camp where I would like to see finger printing and drug testing on all drivers.

The best thing would be for Uber to make drivers pay. Sure, paying to drive Uber sound bad, but think of it this way; would you pay $60 to have a lot less drivers out? Absolutely. The requirement alone would keep some drivers/applicants from even trying, and then there are those that would pay and fail. So overall, it's a good idea for Uber to make the driver pay.

UberDude2 ,Really, personal attacks again?! Why don't you start your own post and spew hate there.

Trying to be civil and UberDude2 keeps ****ing around. My feeling is that UberDude2 will be the first to not do LAX pickups because you can't afford to pay for the LiveScan, you still got things to fix in your older model car, and God knows what the hell you got in your closet.

As for me, I welcome any and all reports, pee tests, etc. Would I pay for the LiveScan to do LAX? I haven't decided yet. and only because I think that LAX pick ups will be a fluster**** and waste of time.
Would I pay for a LiveScan if it was required to drive for uber at all? Hell yes! That would probably deactivate 30% or more of the current drivers.

I am civil but i have an opinion just like you. Believe me when i say i try to stay far away from anything you write but sometimes your stupidity calls for my attention.
You got lucky about one point. I won't hang around the airport but i hope you and others do.
Am i worried about being Live Scanned? Not one bit. I have submitted my fingerprints several times and to beat you to the punch it was for the purpose of employment. I have also personally scanned hundreds of pieces of crap like you, for the purpose of incarceration. If you can't figure out why, then you are definitely brain dead.
As far as my car, it's a 2012 Honda Accord i've told you that before. I'm not sure many people here would think that was an older model car but like i said, you're brain dead.
My closet? It's cleaner then the average person. I have been through more then one background check that was way more in depth then just a Live Scan so i have nothing to worry about. Figure that one out genius.

Uber has been utterly resistant to any Regulations requiring Fingerprint Background Checks, yet it tested them for some in-house analysis! I'm going to try to get this looked at by the media. I believe Regulations requiring Fingerprint Background Checks are to the advantage of Uber Drivers themselves, since it would force Uber to treat the Drivers as more of an asset that can't be easily replaced and not as a disposable commodity.
Can you please give some more specifics on this?
  1. When did this happen?
  2. Do you have the name & address of the "pack & ship" place that ran your fingerprint scans?
  3. Do you have any emails, or other documentation of this?
  4. Would you be willing to speak with an LA reporter if you're identity is kept anonymous in the reporting?

If there are other Drivers who participated in this Fingerprint BG Check disguised as a "Survey", please post here or message me.
Thanx!

Yes, fingerprinting would thin out the heard. It's about time that Uber gets real with their background check. No more drivers with suspended licenses driving around. I know of one personally, and Uber hasn't caught on for the past 3 months.
Also, no more drivers with a drivers license that is less than 2 years old. You may have heard of the Chicago driver arrested for rape. He was in the country for 3 years, and drivers license for less than 2.
I also know of other drivers that gypsy unto an approved Uber driver's account. I personally picked up a pax that would not get into the other Uber car that went to pick them up because the Rider app showed a WOMAN; yet it was a dude picking them up. I was called and the other gypsy uber driver was still there. I guess waiting for the 5 minutes to pass so that he could collect on the "cancellation/no show" fee. Stupid him, since my pax sent an email to Uber with his license plate and app screen shot to report him.

So many other stories, but you guys get the moral of the story. Only real drivers that have passed and meet the guidelines should be driving. Sorry for all others, including the felons that I know need to make ends meet, but this is not for you.
