Hey guys, just wondering how much you spend on gas per week or year driving a Prius full time. Thinking about getting a Prius or Corolla. Prius is pricier upfront. But wonder if it'll come out cheaper than the corolla because of gas.

I own a Prius. I've driven Uber/Lyft full time for 2.5 years now.

Let me give you my predicament. I'm at 206k miles. My hybrid battery is failing. It's a $2500 replacement to have it fixed properly. The savings in fuel put about even compared to if I had driven a Camry.

Roughly $7800/year. $25/day budget for gas usually comes in under $25. Range of 560 miles. Vehicle is driven for 20 hours straight a day by two different drivers. ROI per day is $300-450 between two drivers.

I personally no longer drive a Prius anymore let alone Drive X. I'm 6-7 and last Fall I was having debilitating back problems because of the amount of time spent sitting in such a small vehicle.

Replace the battery thats a no brainer. Also spend the $175 at the Toyota dealer and have your transaxle transmission fluid flushed. Are you making sure to clean (or replace depending on your model) your battery filter every 10,000 miles, replace cabin air filter every 10,000 miles, and replace intake filter every 10,000 miles.

Also even if the tires are good replace every 50,000 miles. A blow out on a Prius in the front in can do some major body damage to the bumper and wheel well. Which will far out weigh the cost of new tires.

For tires I would recommend Firestone Fuel Fighters, they have a 75,000 mile warranty and I can personally attest to their endurance of high temperature from long daily use.

Buy a used Corolla or Camry. 06-07 can be purchased with clean title for under $4000 if you shop around. Unless you are in this for the long haul and have good math I would not recommend buying a Prius unless you are paying cash.

I thought the car needed to be 10 years old or newer.
