My agent said they cover till I get a ping. Then of course Uber picks up from there. As good as their coverage is anyway. ....

I did check with Erie (Brad Sussman) you'll see him in here. Their rates were pretty comparable to State Farm. If I hadn't been with SF for so long, I would have switched. I have a "can not cancel" policy (that tells you how long I have been with them ).

SF is working on a ride share rider, but don't know when it will be available.

Check with your local agent.

Of course you aren't you have to pay extra for that. Uber's insurance ONLY covers you when you have a rider in the car. To drive for Uber you have to get the attached rider if your insurance even offers it if not you have to shop it around.

Uber ' s full insurance kicks in as soon as you except a ping. Before the ping and while app is on-line, they cover liability only. But your State Farm policy should cover till you get that ping. Ask your agent that specifically.
Correction: Uber's insurance (James River) only kicks in "full coverage" if you already have full coverage.
If you don't have collision and comprehensive on your personal policy, you are NOT covered for collision and comprehensive when on a ride with a pax.

I have State Farm, and my agent told me that I am not covered while driving for Uber.....
Unfortunately, so many agents are not keeping up with their own company policy changes. Apparently, SF will cover you during phase one - at least that's what Roger's agent assured him of - while other SF agents say no.
Easy Fix: Erie Insurance provides the best blanket coverage of any company in all phases of driving - above and beyond what Uber & Lyft provide. Call me at (Erie sponsorship ended) or email me at [email protected] for a free, no obligation quote.
