How does 407 payment work?

the pax told me to take 407 so i said alright. Took the 407 ramp on 410 and exited on missiauaga road. I was given 3.50 cents as toll fee, lmao. I know that the bill will be around 10 dollars. So, How do I recoup my expense

I personally do not go onto the toll road because you only get reimbursed the toll charge (km portion) but not the entrance fee ( which is 1.00) or video toll charge if you dont have a transponder (which is 4.00). People here will bang on about how you should take the toll road but I don't. I most cases the upfront fare includes that toll charge (excluding 1.00 enteance fee or 4.00 video toll charge) but I elect to you steeles or hwy 7 and keep the profit. With the exception of stretch of hwy 7 from jane to keele and leslie to warden the 407 is not really worth it so just take hwy 7 or steeles or derry or just the 401.

Also don't let the pax dictacte whether you take the 407 or not. With upfront fares and the fact the video tollcharge/ entrance fee is not paid, I use it to my convenience and not to the pax's.

Your charge will only be between 2.75 to 3.25 depending on the time of day you used it. That includes the $1 usage charge, unless you don't have a transponder which will add an extra 4.10. Don't use it without a transponder, it's a straight loss. The 407 site has a trip calculator you can check out.

Uber seems to over pay a few cents per trip and has always paid the $1 usage/entrance charge to me. Personally I say take the 407 when you can, the highway miles are much better for your car and the time you save can mean more money in your pocket overall.

I took the 407 Toll once as well...still waiting for the statement to come to my mail box. I dont have transponder. Next time when pax ask me to use 407...I am going to ask them for $5 upfront for the fees I will have to pay later on. If not, use regular highway.
