How can pax rate you down if you have done everything by the book?

I've recently seen my ratings dropped. I've been courteous, friendly, prompt and driving very safe for my riders, even offering them water. I don't understand how my ratings went from 5 to 4.75? Also is there any way I can only get a ping if the rider is 5 mins away? Last night I had to drive 11 minutes to the rider. Maybe that's why my rating went down since it took me longer to get to them?

Only way to avoid farther-away pax is to not accept, or to accept/cancel.

And your rating is at the whim of the pax regardless of how perfect the experience was.

I'm currently at the mercy of uber to accept every single ping to get the $500 incentive. If I don't accept, will they use that against me? Does not accepting also affect my rating?
I think pax should be required to type an explanation of rate anything below a 5.

Take a ride in an Uber yourself and critique the driver.

I might just do that one time.
Don't worry about your rating as a new driver, it doesn't matter. Meet the requirements for your $500 bonus, that's what's important and lucrative.

There are tons of threads about ratings in this forum. It's not worth worrying or raising your blood pressure over.

I do the same. I treat my passengers like rockstars 95% of people get my car stay on the greatest super driver ever. But no matter how good you are some people are just assholes and get a thrill I'm just telling you that you're not perfect.

People rate the fare there are paying no matter how hard you try. If for instance the fare is 5.25 and they only expected it to be 5$ they ll give you bad rating. Don't forget that most of uber passengers are cheap, that's why they used us instead of regular car service.

First your rating is still considered good by UBER as per their recent email. Also very interesting was a recent email from UBER that they acknowledged that riders "may" give low ratings for very high surge rides regardless how courteous the driver may have been.......I have noticed the same.
