Not Uber related but...

I'm going on holiday to Dubai with the family next week in the hope of taking a nice break and enjoying the weather.

Has anyone been to Dubai before? Any experiences/tips to share?

Apparently it's like 48 Celsius and if your wife/ gf shows her elbows in public you both are gonna be arested !
Ps: NEVER leave her alone in Dubai !

What's the hotel room and dining costs like in Dubai fully synthetic? Also travelling costs like cabs/tours

Never been there before but wouldn't mind stopping off for a week on my way over to Vietnam in January

I love Pho.
Always there in January- I take it your flying Emirates Mr Hogster.
Beautiful country- beautiful people.
Can't help you with Dubai other than thank god for smoking rooms in airports.

Been a couple of times. The taxis used to try and rip u off when they realised u was a foreigner. But now that uber is there they can't rip u off nomore. It's a nice place. Depending on where u go in dubai.

I advise Atlantis hotel

Thanks Spy & Mash

I've heard Emirates is up there with the best Airlines so I'll check out their flights.
Will be good to break up the journey rather than doing a long flight on Cathay Pacific to HK and then the short hop on to Hanoi

Had 5 days in Hanoi, Halong Bay and 3 Caves about 18 months ago and yeah the people were welcoming & very helpful.
Need to see some more of that lovely country.

Thanks UberGeezer, will check out the Atlantis hotel in Dubai.
It's new territory for me and I need to check out some info on the area too.
Sorry for butting in on your thread Uberupnorth
Hope you and your family have a great trip to Dubai too

No worries I've heard about the ladies clothing expectations there, 'er indoors will have to go with the local culture for a few days.

I think most, if not all countries have done something in their past which would upset someone else in the rest of the world.
To be honest I would not let it stop me taking a holiday there, but it would stop me staying or living in a place long term.

Heard a lot of positive things about Emirates- we'll see how they fare next week.
