Hello, I'm thinking of driving for Uber. I live on the beach in St Pete, Fl. only reason I'm considering uber etc is to pay for a truck I'm planning on buying.
It'll be a full size pickup. I'll need $6-700 a month to cover the payment, insurance, and uber gas.

Thank you.

I would double check your local uber approved vehicle list and confirm that your truck is eligible. I don't think trucks are approved in all markets. Gas will be your killer but if all you're looking to do is cover the expense, you should be good but say goodbye to your weekends.

Depending on your monthly payment, expect higher insurance than you are predicting because I doubt you took into account getting rideshare insurance. Its worth it, don't risk it.

Good luck!

Ride share insurance? How about a sign that says "By riding in this car you are waiving all rights to sue me regardless of the reason you feel you need to sue. Or driver nor uber is responsible for anything that happens to you while in this vehicle, or as a result of you being in this vehicle!"
Along with a dash cam pointed at us, with a sign saying smile you're on camera.. however thank you for your reply! I'm ignorant to the driver side of uber and all the advice I get will help me make a decision.

How much are you predicting for gas? Really beware of Ubering with gas guzzlers.

The rideshare is so your regular insurance doesnt drop you bc you didnt tell them you are Ubering. They also cover you when Ubers insurance does not.

Lol. That's not how the real world works. Its not just about pax injury. Damage to your vehicle? Damage to other vehicles? Uber is known to not cover phase 1. Even at times they do cover, they are known to contact your current insurance company and if they get wind of you driving Uber without a rideshare policy, you'll be canceled. Then if Uber doesn't pay, youre out a vehicle and no amount of signage in your vehicle will waive you from paying on those damages. Bankruptcy is more than likely in your future.

Even if Uber does cover the accident, you'll have a cancellation on your record and expect double insurance rates for anyone willing to accept you. Its happened many times on this forum and this a lesson you should learn the easy way versus the hard way.

Better safe than sorry, but whatever you expect to pay for insurance, double it and expect that as the number you need to reach to cover expenses through Uber.
