This is going to be interesting with those who have their phone glued to their hand while they're driving instead of mounted.

Too bad Uber has no way of connecting the down rated incident with the video and have them reviewed on the drivers request. Or rather they won't review it on a driver's request because of the Manpower that would actually take to do that.

I have the cameras in all my phones covered with a red stickie dot. No thank you. There is certainly a hidden agenda behind recording video. And regarding Uber's claim that recording audio has helped in safety incidences, give us a few examples Uber.

Actually, I forgot about the audio recording. Will have to make sure the drivers app has not been given permission.

By the way, Uber, if you actually want to help, along with cracking down on fictitious names (thank you), please require a photo of the riders face on their account. Just copy Lyft, only enforce that a real face is required.

I have taken to honking, and sometimes rolling down my window and pointing to any driver looking down at the phone on their lap. They can't see traffic. These are the idiots that rear end us with a pax in the car and cut in that $2500 deductible. F. U.

This is going to lead to pax starting a heated situation then hitting Record when the driver is forced to react...kind of like they do for YouTube. Drivers better have a dashcam recording audio and video...

Also this article, focusing on other issues:

And where are these recordings going? Saved on smart phone (requires a lot of storage space) or streamed directly to Uber which requires a lot of bandwidth (and a lot of storage space)…

Maybe this is crap they plan on using for their new Uber Ads…

Freezing fake names? LOL there goes 1/2 your customers in some markets…

This is what will happen… At first Uber will probably make this optional. Then at a later time it will be mandatory.

The irony of this is that Uber currently will not even tell you which ride a pax complained about citing privacy… I would throw all those messages sent by them citing privacy right back in their face…
