i was logged on for 2 hours on Thursday evening and 3 hours last night (Friday). Drove to different parts of the city, took screen shots of all of this activity on the app but never got one ping. I have emailed uber about this and haven't received any help from them. I even drove to an area that was surging, people everywhere looking for a ride, still nothing. Send me a fake ping to see if the app is working? Nope, uber customer support still hasn't responded to my issue. I am missing out on making money and need to figure out what the problem is. I have spent over 3 hours troubleshooting my device and still no pings. Any advice would be great as I need to be making money today. Thanks.

Hmmm .... a few things to check. Log into the driver app then log into the passenger app. Make sure you see your car / position on the passenger app. If you dont then you have not been activated. Also try logging into your Uber partners dashboard @ partners.uber.com .... Click on profile, and make sure it says "Active" under your name and picture. You can also try deleting the app and then re-installing it ( a basic reset ).

Advice about making money.

Delete the app and go find a steady job. You will probably make more money mowing lawns or picking up aluminum cans sad to say. Any ride-share gig is a losing proposition after figuring in all your expenses and your time that goes into this gig. The streets are now way to over-crowded / saturated with drivers and fares to low for this gig to be profitable. Only do this as a way to put a little / very little extra spending cash into your pocket. Its also a good < Loss > tax write off come April 15th.

You will soon find out that Uber only cares about Uber and not its Drivers / "Partners".

Good Luck .....................

Thanks for the advice. The app does not say "active" and it also says I have expired documents which do not expire until July 21. Is it normal for them to not allow someone to drive when they have upcoming expire documents? I have two weeks and kinda need that income to help pay for my license and registration renewal.
I am looking to replace a 40 hour/week client that I lost and using uber to get me through this time. I do not plan to make uber full time. I just cannot afford to lose money when I was counting on it..even a little is better than nothing. But not being able to pick up riders and having no way to contact uber directly, I'm waiting for a response to my two emails and hoping it happens sooner than later.

Yes... has to say "active" for you to get requests. It does seem that Uber is holding you up because of your documents. Since it is less then 2 weeks b4 your documents expire Uber may want you to have them renewed b4 activating your account. Just my guess tho.

Uber takes forever and a day to respond to emails. So, if you can find a way to scrape up the cash, i would go ahead and renew those documents asap.

This actually happened to a friend of mine. The very same thing. She got no response from customer service either. Coincidentally we did have an Uber face to face, I forget what it's called, office hours. So she took her paperwork in and talk to somebody face to face and they took care of it and she was able to drive. Perhaps if you took a picture of the documents you have and resubmitted them maybe that will buy you some time but I don't know for sure.
