When you think about it, why would passengers use lyft? It's more expensive, they have to tip or at least there's an option to do it which adds to their cost, and it's not nearly as popular. What incentive does a rider have outside of maybe using a promo code to use lyft over uber?

You'll see a lot of Indians on lyft platform. I guess it's hard for them to get a uber ride due to low ratings.
But don't expect they tip, not even a penny!

It took me almost 4 weeks to finish 40 rides for the sign on bonus!
Not a lot of lyft customers out there at least for now!

On the bright side, there's a small group of people who use lyft exclusively because of the tipping option.
I had a female lawyer once who said so. She's afraid of carrying cash around in philly. But she wants to tip the drivers as it's much better than taxi according to her words. She did tip me $5 on a $6 trip.
