Has Uber made you question your life or humanity? I feel disgusted more than ever how aggressive and rude humans can be. Since my one month of driving I have drove around prostitutes( which I reported), some famous DJ's and Musicians, millionaires, ghetto people and just about everything in Miami, FL. I mean it made me realize we are all just human and how rich people are so rude and cheap. It also made me realize, I do not want to do this forever but it is a good way to stay busy. I wonder why people are so intrusive and always asking me very personal questions? I have met some nice people as well and as a driver you kind of become a therapist or psychologist with people. It has made me more tough and a bit stern but, I was like that before anyways.
It also made me realize that little kids are so funny and maybe true love exists as I see many couples.

What has working for Uber make you realize in your experiences?

I've picked up battered women, and men, and taken to shelters / assistance. I pick up people living in a squalor, so they can get a ride to the liquor store, but is one way since I won't allow glass inside the cab. I hear the comments made by riders towards others ethnic / race / whatever difference that they deem inferior. I do like the looks on the faces when they get ejected.

Overheard spectator comments when a young mother wanted to visit the grave of her child. I helped her back up and carried her to my ride when she wasn't able and cried with her because I can relate how she feels. Apparently the spectators don't believe offspring of white man and black woman should be permitted. They didn't know I was TNC, assumed relationship. ****em all.

I should have skipped UP tonite. Now I'm in a foul mood again.

I like driving with earphones not to hear the conversation that city you drive i sounds depressings. Sorry about that and be safe. Safety is first and I avoid the bad areas at all costs and cancel when I feel I need to.

that is sad you pick up battered people so you must be driving in bad areas. i avoid bad areas for safety reasons always

You drive... with ear phones/buds in? I get complaints to Uber/Lyft because Pax don't know what a hearing aid looks like. It's funny though. The link back to phone via Bluetooth, and I have a BT microphone in backseat as well that is also linked. Radio interferes with it most if the time.

When they get ***** about it, I point out that my profile lists me as deaf/hard of hearing. And proceeding to send me to the corner for a timeout is violation of my disability, ada violation, blah blah blah etc.

RahulS had the audacity to question... if I am deaf, how can I use the phone? Easy, I use a speak n spell (remember those?).

Who did you report the prostitutes to, and why? Were they actually trying to turn tricks in your car?

Damn! Leave the girls alone! They get enough abuse as it is, most of the time.

And they usually TIP!

Ummm... No. not really see a reason why it actually would've done that...

I just transport people from A to B and once they step out of my truck, I'm done with them. I don't analyze what they said, what they do with their lives, where they live etc. etc.

Driving the drunk shift didn't leave me questioning humanity or life but it did leave me questioning how much people drink!

I enjoy a couple of beers and never judge people for drinking. Driving weekend nights was a real eye opener into just how much some people actually drink. I'm not talking 1 or 2 bourbons but 1/2 a bottle getting totally faced. Not just college students either, but those old enough to know better. I remember picking up a couple with their 2 kids from a restaurant. Mom and Dad were totally faced and thought it was hysterical. The look on their 2 little girls faces told the true story. Sad how some let it affect their lives. Whats wrong with moderation?

The apes will take over eventually anyway.

All I can do is try to make friends with a few of em, so when I get thrown in a cage, it will be with a babe.

Best I can do.

We're all doomed I tell ya!

About 1 percent of my riders have caused some sort of problem or another. The other 99 percent are perfectly fine, either quietly minding their own business while I drive or we have interesting conversations.

It's like when you're driving, and some idiot does something reckless or rude, and you complain, man the drivers around here are the worst! Actually, no they're not. Maybe THAT guy is, but 99 percent of the drivers around you are doing exactly what they should be doing.

Focusing on the negative not only gives you a darkly distorted view of reality, it's probably really bad for your health. mental, emotional, spiritual and physical. Try to keep things in perspective.

Uber hasn't made me question my life or humanity. However, this forum has. I wonder how so many have so much money and knowledge in all areas of life that some never make mistakes. ?
I'm always right.
I thought I was wrong once;
But I was mistaken.

;-)

Questioning my life- hell ya.

How I got myself into this where I don't have my main profession job, and am now driving U/L- for way less than I usually make.
But I realize, I only have myself to blame.
There is a glimmer of hope though, in that I am supposed to start working again May 1st.

Life sucks, then you die.
Sucks for me 'cause I'm in REALLY good shape- swim with a group in masters workouts 3 x a week-
I keep praying for a brain tumor to end this misery. You don't always get what you pray for though.

Congrats on your new job. Things are looking up for you, so don't wish for illness. Many people experience adversity and some are stronger because of it. Look how great our Mke weather is now, finally!

I had a close friend once.
He is a very skilled cabinet maker - his designs and creations were lovely.

We were both about 35.
His life was really facked up.
Hurt in a car accident, not his fault, other driver had no insurance.
Tossed outta his apartment.
Couldn't get a girl, and couldn't afford to rent one.
Not particularly good looking.

He struggled his whole life.
When he at his most down I told him, "Man, with all the bad luck you been having, I can only imagine how good it will be when your luck turns - because it will. I have found that no matter how things are now, it will change. If times are good, be grateful for the good times ... because they will change. If times are bad - don't worry, they'll get better. As bad as it's been, for as long as it's been, when your luck changes it's gonna be real good for a long time. I just hope I'm there to see it."
I was right. And I was there to see it.
He met a girl, fell in love, she fell in love with him. They married. i was best man at his wedding. He moved to Idaho (from San Francisco) and lives there to this day making babies and beautiful furniture for rich folks. That was 30 yrs ago. His good streak continues to this day.
He is teaching his grand son how to be a cabinet maker.
Happy as can be.

Things will change.
