If you have dropped your phone a few times you can knock the GPS chip outta wack. It can get worse over time and the solders can become loose making it malfunction as time goes on. Eventually apps running GPS navigation will make the maps spin even though you're not in motion. You may have the phone repaired or replaced to fix the problem. Also dropping it a building will take care of it for good!

Turn your GPS on....hold phone in your hand and do several figure 8 motions with it....this will recalibrate the GPS on Android phones...

Yup my waze has been very glitchy lately. Doesnt update as quickly as it used to.

OP, you mean the compass? GPS has nothing to do with your direction.

I've found that the compass on most phones is garbage, even with calibration.

Download "gps status and toolbox". It's a gps signal booster app. I barely ever loose signal now, even in nyc

Seriously, have you powered off your phone? You should always try that first on weird operation of an app.

Just force close the app. You don't need to restart your phone. Unless it's an iPhone, then just toss it in the trash. My Google maps does that once in a while
