So I met that guy who see's your trade dressing and begins to tell you how much he's making with lyft/uber whatever it may be. So this guy happened to be a lyft driver and said that he was making $200 in as little as 4 hours in SF and said that it is always good for him in the city. I haven't drove for them in about 6 months now cause it seemed pretty slow to me even in the city going 20 mins without a ping. So I just wanted to hear if anyone is having luck with them? Or is this guy full of shit?

Uber and lyft guys or chics , it's their habit which ultimately led to the gig's downfall

Just always bragging about made up money smh lyft is busy in SF just started driving again this week basically when am not chasing guarantees I do lyft

Chasing surge or prime time doesn't work on lyft literally lyft primitively is repelled by your car !! You approach and it disappears to remain on areas around your car :( only between 7 and 10am can you chase ! but even if he is doing 2 hours in the morning for 100$ where is the other 100$ coming from . he is messing with you lol it's busy but 20$ hr busy

lol he was probably an uber driver trying to get me to switch. I know it's assholes like him bragging about how much money they make that keeps people from tipping and expecting great service from us.

I drive with only Uber trade dress, I get at least one person a week trying to get me to use their reference to sign up. He probably just wanted the free money.

I think that the "ride payments" is totally misleading since it doesn't subtract the Lyft fee. What driver cares about what the rider's pay? They only care about the amount they will receive, which is the small print in the "express pay" window. At least that is one thing Uber is superior.

In any event, I decided to take a couple of Lyft rides last week. My payout was $10.92 for those rides. I was just disgusted.

I was making about half as much on Lyft then I was before rate cuts before I went Uber-only.

Lyft needs to show PrimeTime rates.

Both Uber and Lyft need to unilaterally raise base rates by 30-40%.

Quit this price war nonsense. Just stop already. It is affecting the quality of service and you both know it. Riders were fine with the old prices.

I was online with Lyft last night, 5-6pm in the South Bay and only got pinged once and she cancelled!

I need 30 more rides with Lyft to get a $750 referral bonus! I'm hoping I can get those all done this week. I have to complete it by July 8th. (I only drive part-time)

The minute I switched to Uber last night it was non-stop! I had $35/hour guarantee between 5-7pm with Uber so that hour online with Lyft cost me!

I've been driving exclusively for Lyft for a while - it's not as bad as Uber when it comes down to the individual trip(s) (I.e. I get paid more on Lines than Pool, mostly because tips), but when you throw incentives into the mix, Uber takes the cake - and has for a while.

For me, on Uber, they take 20%. Lyft takes 25%. And that can add up - so I usually default to Uber, but the passengers are just muchhhhhhh better on Lyft.

So if you aren't playing the game for PDB or whatever, Lyft is usually better if you are doing part time driving. Say 3 or 4-hour blocks around PrimeTime.

Honestly, the absolute worst is getting sent into East Bay. Lyft in Oakland is the worst. It's all Lines, and rarely go over $5 after spending like 20 minutes getting to them and then completing the drop off.

Now I just see that they are going to Oakland, and I just drive away if they are not in the car. Or I tell them I can't drive there, lol. The only time is when it's surging hardcore or 100% PrimeTime.

Good luck to you! I was curious about South Bay, as I do read some comments on this forum, and it's generally a mixed bag. Some seem to do really well.

If you don't like SF driving, come up to Berkeley. Lyft is heavy there.

You will not finish the bonus in South bay. Nobody uses Lyft there.

Lyft is none stop for me ! I'm doing lyft cause I have no choice , I can't stomach uber's riders or how aweful their app is but from Thursday I will probably go back to uber so I can get some weekend money in :)

On a side note I just picked up the worst rider I have had in a long time she was like 24 or something Asian girl who was on the phone just being obnoxious / very mean to her doctor's secretary it was very hard to hear while she was on the phone there was a nice guy and his kid in the back who somehow she managed to be mean to as well , they got out early as soon as we were a block away from their place .

I almost threw her out but then I ran scenarios in my head quickly and couldn't see it benefiting me at all ( girl is a lost cause) she wasn't ghetto but appeared to be completely out touch with the real world

Anyway watch out for the crazies of lyft , they know uber drivers aren't to be messed with that why they go with lyft lol

I take uber all the time...and i talk to them pretending i know nothing.
Most of them over do it telling how much they make. If i wouldn't know any better would think bunch of millionaires.

Button line...if u get ur PD plus and some guarantees you can go a touch ovet 40 an hour for uber.
Usually around 33...37 an hour after bonuses paid out.
Without bonuses maybe 22 ...25 an hour around sf.
East bay whole other story

EB is about $18/hr before bonus. I would rate it better than SB because pickup times are smaller.

East Oakland and Berkeley are only Pool though. Nothing else. Which is good for pdplus. Can get 5 trips an hour if lucky
