I stopped driving for Uber and Lyft in March and quit Amazon in June.

At the time Amazon money was hit and miss, lots of misses. The problem with Amazon was that after you deducted miles there were days were I'd be making over $20/hr, but more days making around $10/hr, and some days making a little over $3/hr.

I still have my day job and now at night I play dungeons and dragons as a paid DM online.

Drink it my hand, playing games, still getting paid. Not nearly as much as Uber in the early days with all the bonuses. But a lot more fun.

So here's my story:

I started on day 1 when Uber/Lyft came to VanCity in January. There was so many bonuses, boosts, tips I was literally swimming in money. I was basically driving non-stop for 10 hrs as there were not too many drivers working back then compared to now. I could easily make $400+ per day. It was very much like that up to the March Covid shutdown and then I went on hiatus till mid-June.

From mid-June onwards it was a steady decline. Now in October it's more like a steep drop-off. $100 a day would mean a good day nowadays.

Streaks and bonuses are less frequent now. Long trips are also rare now. Riders are tipping much less. Demand is lower. The city is completely over-saturated with drivers because of obvious reasons.

If you really want to jump on board I would suggest the following:

-Drive in the early morning hours something like 6-9am
-Midday Mon-Fri are dead. Just go home and take a nap or run some errands and grab a lunch
-Resume driving around 2pm till around 8 or 9 then call it a day.
-All day on weekends are busy. If I have to pick one day then Saturday is best.
-Drive when the weather is nasty. There's more demand.
-I avoid hanging out in the busy areas like Downtown, Metrotown, YVR etc... Too much competition.

Saturation will only get worst, as people who have lost their jobs at the beginning of the pandemic will also want to drive or do deliveries, since there is no CERB. There will be more drivers than customers. LOL. :geek: :geek: :geek: :geek:
