IS there any way we could all organize and set up a day that as many of us drivers all email or contact uber about adding a tip option? Something like "We have all expirienced the pain from your recent Austin price cuts PLEASE listen to the most voiced partner feed back of adding a tip option. Please listen to us. We are even willing to be your 1st test market."

I've been successful with my tip signs in my car. I know others have tip jars and what not and have also been successful. Just an education process. I turn it around on Uber and tell pax Uber forces them to carry cash if they want to tip by refusing to give them an option to make it cashless and seamless in the app like competitors.

I had two different first time Uber riders tonight ask if there was a way to tip in the app. I told them no and they said that is stupid. Not.....What a relief....now I don't feel pressured! But....THAT IS STUPID!!!! It is absolutely unbelievable that Uber is doing this to us.

Out of 10,000 drivers in Austin there are about 10 on this forum. When you have 5000 Austin members here you might be noticed. Anything else is just a pipe dream. Spread the word when you are out.

BramasoleATX , And therein lies the Achilles' heel of this site. We have had NUMEROUS newbies come check our site out, and some have even posted. What do you suppose they see in here? They basically see a lot of hate and discontent. And when posting, what kind of responses do they get? They are told that they are stupid for driving, told to quit, told they can't do the math, and if you post ANY disagreement with some members, you will be vilified and cursed at and basically told to STFU. Why WOULD they want to stay?

If you want the 5,000 driver participation (and globally 100s of thousands), then we, as members need to maintain some self regulation and the moderators need to nip the trolls in the bud. Otherwise, many will come, but few will stay.

Seems like we've had a lot less discontent since certain cabbies and Uber haters have been staying off the site...No? Further....the last couple "newbies" have been suspiciously well informed and bossy so you know....just sayin.

I'd be willing to wager that I mention this site to more people that you do. I want all Uber drivers to be informed and interested. I also post more responses and humor and I organize more on here than you do. So I have an issue with your passive aggressive references to me as some kind of negative force on here. My bottom line....come one, come all...just don't be a bully or a dick. So if you have a problem with that then I really can't help you.

I dont buy the 10,000 drivers line. There are only 877 Austin Facebook Uber members. I bet the number is closer to 4,000.

LaustinAustin every forum I've been in is like this. I have never been in a forum where everyone was kittens and roses. So those with thin skin usually wont stick around, its true.

I took a while to decide about the Cabbie wars here, coming in as a noob and seeing who was who.

I decided that if you don't work for UBER currently, you really have no business on this forum unless you just want to troll. I guess people who are considering working for UBER have business here... but I'm not sugar coating the gig for them.

It is a grind, its dangerous, there is all kinds of risk, and UBER pretty much shits on us at will. If someone wants a different perspective they can go to Facebook, but it is the same thing there.

I do appreciate your attempts at unity, but free speech trumps all.

However, if you analyze your comments, you have just promoted what I have been saying. You don't like my comments so you personally attack me? It doesn't matter to me if you do all of those things "more than I do". I just want this to be about driving. We can't organize if 90% of the drivers stay off line because they don't want the drama.

I apologize if my comments offend you. I am just stating my opinion.

Native Austinite I agree with you. I don't think you should have to walk on eggs either. I am just saying that the majority of the peeps will stay off of here because of it. I kinda like that the trolls have gone. HornsFan stated that earlier and it is true. It has been better without them. I don't even mind having the cabbies (some) on here. We can learn from them as well (as long as they aren't trolling and bashing).

And I'm just stating mine. How exactly did I "attack" you?? I think I was being polite as hell. I think that you are pretty overly sensitive about all this to be honest. People actually like a little sizzle and drama. It adds to the fun of these boards. Would you rather just have a bunch of cabbies talking ad nauseam about regulation and the good old days and shit?? And "walking on eggshells"???!!! Come on man.

You called me out for no reason when I have done absolutely nothing to you. Isn't THAT being negative?? Isn't THAT part of the problem here that you are holding some kind of grudge and judging other contributing members. Glass houses bro.

Native Austinite,
Things do sometimes get a bit heated for little to no reason on this site. I'm in the Facebook group as well, and I have seen what you've seen.
LaustinAustin and HornsFan,
Guys, can't we all just get along?

HornsFan brought up something in another thread about how noobs should act. I tend to agree with his assessment, which was more or less, read a lot, don't comment on shit you really haven't experienced, and don't forget to check your uber enthusiasm at the door on your way in.
I watched this site for a month before signing up and didn't comment much initially. I try to interject humor, let noobs know this isn't as easy as the radio ads make it sound, and find common ground with other drivers.
It's not complicated. :p

Love the idea. Maybe of you drafted a form email and everyone copied and pasted it and passed it along in every forum, twitter, Facebook groups, etc, it might raise an eyebrow at Uber.
Not likely, though. Too many people that live in fear of Uber deactivation.

I hate to be so cliche about it but I think you could predict I might say this. He started it. And he also kept it going I might add.

It's funny that this all got created out of thin air and for no ****ing reason today. Thanks again for that guy! Because I was just going to create a thread and tempt fate by mentioning how peaceful it's been around here without the top two posters filling 60-70% of the threads with their self interest and blowhardery. The last week or so has had a lot of good exchanges and new members and information, etc. We even discussed and implemented a meet up. Well....you guys did....because I suck. Anyway....just wanted to mention that is something I had noticed. Until today's events. :-(

Reset the Beef Clock to zero everyone....we're starting over!!

Last night an UberX high roller got in my car at a hotel. As one of the hotel attendants opened the car door for him, he already had the small handful of bills in his hand that he had taken out of his pocket in readiness. "Excellent", he said to the attendant and handed him a couple of dollars.

So the attendant made $2 for opening and closing a door. 20 seconds' work, tops. I made around $5 on that ride for 25 minutes' work.

At the end of the ride the pax got out and just said, "Great ride, thanks!". Normally I don't care about non-tippers as I always knew Uber was a non-tipping gig. But something about what I'd just seen irked me. 1* for that pax.
