Hehe... yes. The story behind it isn't really that exciting. The guy wasn't trying to be a jerk or anything. He just felt bad he didn't have any USDs on him so he gave me that instead, figuring I would find it interesting or something. As a matter of fact, I've found Indian pax to be rather decent about tipping.

I do have a square reader but I didn't press... it was a train station drop off in Hartford, which is the only place I've ever been hassled for being an uber driver, so I like to get in and out quick.

I was actually tipped $100 on a $20 XL ride. They were drunk and was just throwing 20s at me. From the look of thier house.. im pretty sure it was nothing to them.

Well, since this thread got bumped, I might as well tell you guys about another odd thing I got tipped last weekend - $1 and a beer. Pax was obviously wasted and lamenting the fact he only had a dollar on him for a tip so he insisted I take a beer as we unloaded his 12 pack from the trunk. I was close to home and it was my last run of the night... it's actually still in my fridge right now if any0ne wants it.

My best individual tip was $20 on a minimum fare. Picked up a mom and infant at a small (Mystic) train station at 1am, came from 13 minutes away to pick her up. She handed it to me and told me "I know you aren't supposed to take this, but I know how far you came for me."

I say "individual" because I've picked up 4 guys who got dropped off at three different locations. The first two guys got dropped off at the designated Uber destination. $23 fare. Two others stayed in the car. First wanted to go 15 minutes away. When we got there he asked how much? I said Uber would charge $23 (off the top of my head, LOL). He handed me a $20. Last guy wanted to go to his hotel back where we started, my home area. Got another $2o for that. Best night so far. $120 take home for 5 hours.
