So I got a trip to Connecticut yesterday from JfK. I'm not normally not Mr nice guy when it comes to accepting any trip as I learned from you guys and from my own experience. I'm not looking to get ridiculed for taking this trip. It's never gonna happen again. My question is, he said he paid like $140. The fair only shows $119. Do any of you ever ask your passengers in a respectful manner what they paid to see if the numbers add up once in a while?

I don't understand this part "I'm not looking to get ridiculed for taking this trip. It's never gonna happen again". Can you explain this please.

Oh and when you wanna check how much they paid make some BS up. Like telling passengers you are doing anonymous research. Or be straight up and tell them there have been a lot of discrepancies lately between what Uber charges them and what they pay you. Most will be happy to oblige.

This isn't happening more and more now with upfront pricing...my question is, do they increase the fare on the upfront rate if the traffic is heavier than predicted? Specifically UberBlack where the per minute is 65-80¢...

That's $119 minus about 38% after Uber, black car fee and tax. You have to also deduct gas and toll...That is why I hate driving pax to CT

Those ct trips only make sense at night. Where the i no traffic coming back. If it takes you 40 min to stamford and you get 60 bucks net per say, you can get back to the bronx in about 20 min tops. So 60 bucks for an hour is a dollar a minute before car expenses so it makes sense. But any other time isnt worth it. When i work some afternoons and i see somebody is going to far jersey at say 4 or 5pm i kindly decline because it takes 35 min just to cross that god awful tunnel on the way back, not worth it.

How can you see where you are going before the pax sits in your car?
You can't...It's either cancel the trip (end trip) right after starting it and seeing the destination or asking the pax before you start the trip.

I had a trip to NJ early in the morning. It was a nice older lady heading to Union, NJ from Soho (only 5.5 miles).
During our conversation, I asked her if she takes Uber often and she answered with "hardly". Well then I went on with my Uber 101 lesson lol. Explained to her that most drivers would have cancelled it if it was during a weekday since it takes hours to head back to NYC and that it would be common courtesy to call the driver and inform them that you are heading out of town.
Anyways, she felt bad and tipped me $20

Unfortunately Juno has taken these steps.

Gett charges upfront pricing too but i believe they have the least discrepencies. I have confirmed with many pax.
This is % !
I called Juno on a ride where they charged my Surge without notfying me first
And Rep started making excuses bout how it was UpFront Pricing with Surge included etc...
Juno is getting lot more shady lately

You didn't get screwed. You agreed to work for uber and get paid for time and distance. What they're doing is perfectly legal. What you do want to check is that you're not charged the sales tax on what the pax paid. But what the meter says on your end.

I love trips to jersey city. It is so easy to double dip by setting destination back to manhattan. And if you wait on washington street about .5 miles below the holland tunnel, you always get fares back to the city like that. Free 20 dollars.
