Got pinged....then cancelled

668 Views 2 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Another Uber Driver
Got pinged and then quickly cancelled, received a phone call from a woman saying she was still in San Fran and was lading at Ontario airport in 2 hours. Wanted to know if I could pick her up when she landed. No Uber pick ups at Ontario airport are allowed. I know people circumvent the system all the time but my concern is it was some type of sting operation on the local authorities part. I didn't want any part of this. We're my concerns legit? What could be the possible punishment? Fined? Impound? Any suggestions appreciated.

If you know airport pickup isn't allowed at Ontario Airport, you don't do it. Period.
Uber driving doesn't pay well enough to get fined, or potentially vehicle impounded over.
Follow that advice.

If you get a similar request from someone at a location where you can pick her up, you are far better off telling the customer, in a courteous and businesslike manor that she should request a ride when she is ready. In order for you to do the pick-up after two hours have elapsed, you would either have to:

1. Leave the request on your telephone, not take any other requests, then go to the address and pick-up the passenger at the appointed time. You would then do all the sliding and button pressing to run the trip.

2. Cancel the request (or let the customer), return at the appointed time, have the customer submit a new request when she emerges and hope that it goes to you.

Neither prospect is either profitable or good for you.
