In Northridge of all places and I opened the passenger ap and there were other drivers around.

Also, I was in Sherman Oaks and it had me drive 7 minutes away to pick up a pax, which is crazy because there were cars on top of each other around me and all down ventura, which is the street the pax was on.

I can't complain I suppose because the ride brought me back into core (and the 24 minutes away pax cancelled) but still seems weird. It makes me wonder what their algorithm is set for.

I get ASSIST pings, and those are somehow always 15+ minutes away. Record so far was a Santa Monica ping with an ETA of 22 minutes.

The really amusing part is realizing that there were probably literally a hundred drivers closer, and the system picked me.

I got a ping yesterday for a pickup in San Pedro. I was in torrance at the time 23 minute ETA. 2x surge so I figured I would risk the pickup. Pick up the pax and bring him 3 miles to his destination. I would have cancelled the ride in a second if I knew the destination. I was hoping to get a lucky long run but the gamble did not pay off.

That is the problem with ASSIST. If the other drivers around are not on the ASSIST list, then you can get ASSIST pings that are pretty far away, and of course there is no compensation for the increased distance.

We get that in the outer suburbs of Melbourne nowadays. 30 min ETA pings are normal, and some people are reporting getting 30 min ETAs from inner city suburbs too. And we don't have UberPoo. Could be a combination of 1) people who drive to work and set the destination filter to where they wanna go, and 2) drivers ignoring low rated pax.

Interesting. Where they poorly rated or in the hills? Was there a surge in a nearby neighborhood? Why would half a dozen drivers pass up the request?

I didn't actually look at their rating, i definitely should have! No surge anywhere. And exactly. Makes me think that I was the only one pinged which is crazy right??

Why are you guys driving in the Valley with no surge or incentive for base pay? SMH. You are slaves for uber at base rate, and don't give me this crap about getting in your rides for incentives for next week, if you want to do that you are just working for free, at least drive to the core and get your 1.4 or 1.5x.

Go to Malibu and you will get 18 minute, 24 minute, 25 minute requests one after another. For shits and giggles I went to one on top of a fricken mountain in malibu, holy shit, thought I was gonna fall off the cliff.
