I'm all for egregious offenders getting tickets but how about that man from Oakville who was fined $880 for taking his kids rollerblading in an empty parking lot? I think it was unnecessary to ticket him for that, I wouldn't call that egregious..

Got a warning and told to leave. Started lipping off to the officer. Too bad. Pay $880 and follow the rules like everyone else.

Parks are closed.

He had his chance to go home without a ticket but he thought he was special.

There should be some reasonable approach toward fining people in these times.
Generally a warning to go home would probably suffice in most cases.
Obviously, if you want to be a jerk to the officer, it is in their purview to make you cough up some money for being an asshole.

Exactly. The cop could've been reasonable. Explaining to the officer that they're in an empty parking lot isn't really being a jerk. Explaining your case isn't worth an $880 fine IMO..

There's nothing to explain. He asked them to leave and Dad decided to keep talking. Zero sympathy in this case.

I agree. If there is one journalist that is neither helpful nor informative, it is Brian Lilley.
That being said. WTF was Trudeau posting selfies of at his COTTAGE when the public health officers were expressly telling people that do no recommend people go to their cottages. It is bad optics.
