New driver here with very specific goals. Looking to pay off some debt, have dinner at Grace, and maybe a vacation. Although, I am not driving my butt off, maybe a few hours during the week, and trying to get more significant driving on the weekends. I am fortunate to have a good day job and applaud those who uber for a living. Best of luck out there.

Thanks for replying without a smart attitude cbot ! Im in the same boat as you very fortunate to have a goodday job as a local truck driver with awsome benefits. Right now I'm just looking to save up for a nice vacation and putting money aside for a down payment on a house and pay off some debt. Good luck out there !

I started in October of last year. I drove my butt off for 3 months on top of my full time job. My goal was to pay for the medical bills after insurance for the upcoming birth of our 2nd child and to cover the lost income for my wife's 3 months of materity leave as her company's short-term disability planned only covered about one month. I got about 75% of my goal by the time of the birth, then a month of very light driving, followed by a couple months of moderate driving to cover the other 25%. Now I drive lightly-moderately depending on the guarantees and how busy my week is ... and I do this for those unexpected expenses that arise from time to time and to put money aside for savings and college.

Primary is to make up for the (temporary) pay-cut we took last month through the end of the year.
Second is to cover some expected medical bills, but I was able to rejigger some loans to already cover most of that...

I used to have larger goals, but after 3 months, I realized that the serious incomes ($1,000+ a week) can only be made in Chicago. Since learning that I'm allergic to the myriad of challenges there, I lowered my goal to $200 @ week, and am content with suburb-to-suburb fares.
