Threaten yes, but cannot deactivate. Just send them a polite reply reminding them you are an IC and need to promote your business in the same way Uber has the right to promote theirs.POST # 2/UberBlackDriverLA: Y E A H,

yeah, but.....trust that if the Local Yokel
MisManagement catches wind of it, they
will threaten deactivation for some
vaguely worded nonsense in the TOS.

Yes... there is that."Hand out Lyft promo to Uber Pax."
"Driver suddenly discovers that he/she has been deactivated."
Why?
Pax given a Lyft Promo was an Uber spy. Wouldn't risk it.
There is no such thing as an Uber Spy. Haha. If you believe Uber does any kind of quality check on their drivers then I have some oceanfront property in Arizona to sell you."Hand out Lyft promo to Uber Pax."

And I will eventually stop being an uber driver... depends which happens firstI have driven both Uber management and lobbyists...Uber staff are given copious amounts of free ride credits. One will eventually be in your vehicle.
And Uber would be in more trouble for doing so. This is precisely the information the attorneys are looking for in the IC/employee lawsuit. Having their employees deemed employees is the one thing that scares the crap out of Uber.If I was a rider I would appreciate you giving me a card. If Uber finds out, yes you will most likely get in trouble.
I got that too... but it is generic canned response. Of course I watch my rating after every ride since I started handing out cards. Perfect 5.0Recently received a weekly summary from Uber in which a "problem was reported".
"Problems reported
There were a few things your riders thought could be better. Here are some tips on how to improve:
Professionalism![]()
Riders count on Uber for a comfortable, relaxing experience. They prefer for drivers not to promote other businesses during the trip"
Not sure what this references as Uber doesn't think drivers should know what the actual complaint was. Two things come to mind. Either it was the older couple I gave free appetizer coupons to (I have a bunch left over from previous job and I'm not going to use them all so I thought it might make someone's day to get some free food, only offer it to people I drop off near the restaurant) or it was the ones who asked if I drive both and which I preferred. If I'm in an Uber ride I keep it diplomatic "Well they both have pros and cons" etc. But if I'm driving Lyft I'm completely honest and tell them I much prefer Lyft and am only keeping my Uber account in case something changes.
So beware "promoting other business" as it appears some riders or perhaps secret shoppers will ding your rating and complain about your "professionalism".
