Brothers, things are getting worse and worse. Today I drove from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and only made $140. Based on the data, customer requests are only half of what they were during the same period in previous years, and income has dropped to just two-thirds.
From 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., I didn’t get a single request. What’s going on? Even in previous summer breaks, it was never this slow.

The difference is Uber is getting expensive and passengers are baulking.

This was the passenger app from this morning. Uber charging $109 dollars to go from El Monte to the airport on X. I remember it being $100 for that same trip on XL. The pax are getting pissed off and more and more are asking the drivers if they can lower the price if they pay them directly. It happened to me the other day. I had no hesitation turning off the app.

Uber are scammers, crooks, liars and thieves. And it's not a secret anymore so there is some hope for change.

It's the end of the world as we know it.

Too many drivers and not enough customer demand. It's actually better for ride-sharing during high economic times because more people are doing more profitable things than just turning their vehicle equity miles into cash.

When times are tough more people turn on their apps and combined with less demand because customers are tightening their belts or not active, equates to less trips per driver.

I also think Uber starts messing with drivers by giving them less trips to push many into working the overnight shift, especially those with lower ratings.

I do know that a 5.0 driver (often a newbie) will get paired up with a 5.0 rider despite other drivers being closer thus gives a long wait time for the customer. So there is obviously some games going on in that regard.

Hopefully you get business from people from IE to SoFi round trip for 4 days in a row 🙏

What are your thoughts on State mandated oversight by a private, non-profit entity with an established and verifiable record of effectiveness and efficiency that is funded by all the fees the government is getting from the platforms already? Otherwise known as "Government Fees and other taxes".

Not a taxi, but since you've mentioned it and if you’re using the duopoly's platforms...YOU'RE ALREADY A TAXI! The difference is that you are being exploited in the most egregious fashion by "da screwber + da grifter" without oversight, how do we expect anything from our "for profit & predatory partners?"

With oversight, our best interests are being considered, monitored and represented by an entity with a history of effectiveness..

California rideshare drivers were relegated to permanent third-class status in the workforce by Proposition 22. There is no point in pretending otherwise. Uber and Lyft won - they get to treat human drivers like shit until the self-driving cars are ready everywhere. The only rational thing to do for any rideshare driver who actually needs to make a living is to go into another line of work ASAP.

Pre prop 22 it wasn't much better :x
blame the drivers that got us here today.

Not a bad comparison, but no. I just have concerns that eventhough a union gives drivers bargaining power, they have DUES TO PAY the unions and how much do you think a union could squeeze out? Im doubting that its enough to cover the dues or maybe JUST cover dues. So what's the use? Deactivations protection? I don't see that as worth it, especially as you pointed out...robos are coming and so isn't ICE...the more attention the union brings the faster ICE will take action...that may be the only real benefit/ advantage of union over a regulatory commission or oversight committee

When the ICE crystals or dust settles and it is just us left driving, then I see a Regulatory Commission or oversight committee that is paid for by all those government & third party fees we already pay for as the best option for drivers and passengers. Or maybe a few well funded NEW platforms could be motivated to compete for market shares with the duopoly and with that competition...driver wages go up and passengers rates go down because the platforms need to provide incentive to keep good drivers and increase passengers usage in order to stay operational...if they go out of business and fewer opportunities become an issue.. who gives a shit? I'd rather find other work than see the duopoly make a shitton of money because there is no competition, oversight, etc. to keep them honest and fair across the board

It's very simple.
Only reason why fuber can low ball us is bcuz we are taking their shitty pings. We basically allowed them to do this to us.
If no driver takes any bs trips, fuber will have to raise the rates to entice drivers to accept the pings. But we got everyone taking everything. 🥲

I think you may be more intelligent than you state....$74.00 for 29 minutes is pretty daunting good.
